Dear Barracudas Families,

We all had a great swim meet last Saturday against the Granite Bay Gators. Our kids swam very well and showed the greatest team spirit. The display of cheering kids at the end of the pool makes us so special. Congratulations to Marli Bannai for breaking our first team record this season in 25 backstroke (6 and under age group).

Enjoy your swimmeet free weekend and have a Happy 4th of July.

Message from our Championship Chairperson Jim Sloan:

Championship Program Advertisement

You can now place your order for an advertisement in the Comstock Championships program.  There are many options to choose from starting w/ a full page for $300 ranging to a horizontal business card size for $30.  With the championships in Roseville this year, local businesses may benefit more from the ads then in years past.  Orders need to be turned in to the league by July 9th so if you’re interested, please act fast.  You can find the order form and ordering instructions on the team website: Go to the ‘Swim Meets’ drop down menu and select ‘Championship’.  If you have any questions, direct them to Jim Sloan ( jcsloan@surewest.net)

Please look out for more information about volunteer shifts coming soon.

Message from our Spirit Chairperson Michelle Mefford:

Thursday, July 16th is a great day to show team spirit and get ready for the Championship weekend with the Barracuda’s Annual Car Decorating Contest!  This is a great event and it shows our Barracuda spirit all over town.  Championship morning, decorated cars meet at JRRC and leave together.  Last year, the Barracudas had an official pace car leading the pack. Very, very cool!  Car window paint has helped make this a success.  A suggestion is to get some now!  Target, Wal-Mart, Michaels and Oriental Trading Company (online), are a few places to find supplies.  More to come on time and location.  Just a reminder to stock up early.

Monday, July 6th through Friday, July 17th are the last TEN practices of the season!  MAKE THEM COUNT!  Starting Monday, July 6th, sign your name on the Countdown Poster every day until July 17th and let everyone know how hard you are practicing!  Attend all TEN practices and receive a GOLD BELL!!!  Show the team how hard you can work! Show your spirit for the Barracudas at the Championship Meet on July 18th by ringing the GOLD BELL that you earned!  Make it count!  Stay focused, swim fast!

Message from our Fundraising Chairperson Lori St.Denisand Anissa Konieczny:

We would like to thank all of our sponsors:

Message from the Board:

As the end of our swim season approaches (and what a great season it has been so far!), we are looking for qualified volunteers interested in serving on the Swim Board for next year.  It is our hope to assemble a board of individuals whose focus will be keeping the Barracudas one of the premiere swim programs in Northern California.  Some of our current board members have expressed an interest in serving another year, but there are many vacant positions (including those listed below).  While some board positions require specific skills, there are many positions to fill and we are certain we can find a position that interests you and is a match for your skills.  If you are interested in learning more about being a part of the board, please contact Jay Littleford at 580.9959 or jay.littleford@paetec.com.

Treasurer – Financial background needed (Finance, accounting, bookkeeping, etc.)

Fund Raising Chairperson – This is a split position which includes finding sponsors (we have a volunteer for this) and being in charge of Barracuda wear, Swim-a-thon, etc.

Social Activities Chairperson – Arrange social functions for the team. Skills required should be creativity, highly organized, and willing to have fun.

Parent Volunteer Coordinator – Be in charge of parent volunteers for meets. Skills required for this job include good follow up skills, highly organized, and some computer skills.

In addition to the above vacant positions, following are additional positions you may be interested in.  Even though we have received interest for these positions, all positions are open and subject to vote so if you are interested in any of these, please let us know so we can include you on the ballot.  Fresh ideas help keep our team the best it can be, so please consider getting involved!

Full descriptions of all positions can be found on the website under Barracuda Bylaws (go to Team Info - Documents - Barracuda Bylaws).
