The Lakers Aquatic Club offers training and practice groups for swimmers of all ages and ability levels. It is the goal of the Lakers Aquatic Club to offer age specific training for all of our athletes geared towards challenging each individual and developing each individual to the best of their abilities.

Speedsters & Lakers North @ Anchor Bay Aquatic Center* - Coach Riley Shea
This group is offered as training for the pre-competitive swimmer and swims three days per week.  The main focus will be on the FUNdementals of swimming...working on stroke drills, freestyle, backstroke, streamlining, breathing and endurance techniques required to move to the Silver competitive group. Swimmers need to be able to do 3x100 freestyle and 3x100 IM without stopping (except for a minimal rest interval) and perform all strokes and turns legally to move up.

Junior -  Coach Danni Kudla

This group is for the more experienced swimmer who has completed the goals in Speedsters.  It practices four days per week and the main emphasis of this group is still stroke technique, kicking, streamlining and starts & turns.  The swimmers in this group will be introduced to training concepts that include interval swimming.  The primary focus is on freestyle and IM training to establish a solid endurance base. Swimmers need to be able to perform the 500 freestyle in less than 7:45 and other criteria set forth in the Guidelines for Advancement to advance to the Blue group.  



Senior - Coach Kelton Graham

This group is for the older, experienced swimmer, who has demonstrated excellent attendance and leadership in the BLUE group. The group has a MINIMUM attendance level of five days per week. They must have achieved state qualifying times in the 13-14 age group and shown an ability to train freestyle as described in the Guidelines for Advancement. Good flexibility is required as is a demonstrated ability to push oneself through painful training sets required to compete at the OPEN state level of swimming. The main emphasis will be stroke technique, conditioning and intense training of all energy systems of the body.  The swimmer in this group has made a clear commitment to their sport and training.  Swimmers in this group are dedicated and attend practice on a daily basis.  Swimmers in this group are high-level state swimmers who are pursuing Sectional, Jr National, Sr National and Olympic Trial time standards.

High School Swimmers looking to continue training will train with the Senior Group.

Speedsters White: $120 per month / offered 3 practices / week / 1 hour 

Speedsters Red: $150 per month / offered 4 practices / week / 1 hour 

Junior White: $170 per month / offered 4 practices / week / 1.5 hours + dryland

Junior Red: $180 per month / offered 6 practices / week / 2 hours + dryland

Senior Blue :  $190 per month / offered 6 practices / week / 2-2.5 hours + dryland

Senior White: $200 per month / offered 7 practices / week / 2-2.5 hours+ dryland

Senior Red: $210 per month / offered 9 practices / week / 2-2.5 hours + dryland

Please note that all families are REQUIRED to sign up for online bill pay. Online bill pay is the only accepted form of payment. Most of our families already participate in this. Monthly dues, meet/other fees must be paid by credit/debit card or ACH/Electronic check. Account balances will be charged on the 1th of each month. Dues/fees will no longer be accepted at the pool or by mail.

Two-Week Trial:  Lakers offers a FREE two-week trial period to new and curious swimmers!  This is a opportunity to ensure that your child feels that the Lakers swim team is a good fit for them.  If interested in joining, after the two-week trial period, the swimmer and parent/legal guardian must complete the full registration package and submit payment.  The registration fees will consist of a  $80.00  fee for the USA Swimming  Membership (required for all swimmers by USA Swimming).  As mentioned above, the USA Swimming membership is required by all swimmers on every USA Swim Team. 

High School Drop-In Fee Option:  Lakers is proud to offer a drop-in option for its current members who are participating in High School School swim at their prospective schools. The cost for this drop-in option is a one-time fee of $100 and covers the months of Sept/Oct/Nov for Girls and Dec/Jan/Feb for Boys. This fee must be paid at ShortCourse Registration by selecting the "High School Drop In" as your swimmer's group.  High School Boys will need to inform membership to obtain the drop in option. This option allows your swimmer to participate on their school's swim team while still being able to take advantage of training with their Lakers team, as often as they would like!



Lakers Aquatic Club – North
Coming to Anchor Bay Aquatic Center – January 6, 2020 !!!

Lakers – North will be coached by Riley Shea. In addition to having been a member of the Lakers Coaching Staff for a 4+ seasons, Riley has recently assumed the role of Head Coach for both Varsity Swim Teams at Anchor Bay High School. Riley trained and competed with the Lakers between 2009 and 2012, under former Head Coach Bryce Pitters, who currently works as the Assistant Swim and Dive Coach for Wayne State University. He competed for L’Anse Creuse High School, competing at the State level in multiple seasons.

Groups & Fees

Senior AB - $180.00 per month
Beginning January 6th – Practices: M/W/F – Swim 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm + 20-25 min. dryland workout
TU/TH – Swim 6:30 pm - 8:45 pm
SAT – Swim 9:00 am - 10:30 am

Group ideal for the high school swimmer or experienced competitive swimmer (13+) looking to continue learning, training, and competing in the sport year-round. Meets are offered, and encouraged, but not required. Instruction includes advanced stroke technique, feedback, and refinement, as well as more physically challenging, interval-based workouts.

Junior AB - $150.00 per month
Beginning January 6th – Practices: M/TU/TH/FR – Swim 6:30 pm – 8:00 p.m.

Intermediate group ideal for younger competitive swimmers (10-13) who have surpassed the requirements for completion of the Speedster Group (3x100 IM with legal strokes and 3x100 Freestyle, all with 20 seconds rest between each. Stroke technique focus is retained, while swimmers are instructed in more difficult drills and interval-based workouts become a staple of the daily practice.

Speedster AB - $120.00 per month
Beginning January 6th – Practices: M/W/F – Swim 6:30 – 7:30 p.m.

Group ideal for newer swimmers (7-10) with a minimum requirement of: one 25-meter lap of both front crawl and backstroke. Meets are offered, and encouraged, but not required. Instruction includes introductory stroke technique, feedback, and refinement for all racing strokes, while gently introducing the swimmer to interval-based workouts.
