 Training

At Lone Star, we train athletes to swim fast. Our training methods push our athletes outside of their comfort zone. It is designed to eliminate stagnation, and address sport specific adaptations needed for upper level competition.

Athletes develop character through hard work and a persistent passion towards achieving perfection. Athletes build strength by supporting each other.  Team goals are shared and met as our athletes keep each other accountable.

While most programs design their practices with mileage as their main focus, we coach by what we see. Traditionally, swimmers have been trained under the guise that the more one trains the faster one gets. This results in coaches getting over concerned with numbers and useless facts.

Our program focuses on the skills and effort needed to swim fast. By monitoring these areas closely, we are able to ensure our athletes are improving according to their needs.

Our swimmers are people first. Our primary concern is their character and how well they are embracing our core values. While we want our athletes to take away that hard work pays off, our coaches are more concerned with how they are developing as a person as opposed to what they are swimming in competition.

Our coaches are trained to keep up with modern research on physiology and progressive training concepts so that we can ensure our swimmers are getting the best training possible.

Training goals are achieved by training a wide variety of energy systems and movements, with emphasis on individual muscles, muscle groups and movements that are at the foundation of swimming movements. In turn our athlete build a solid foundation for a periodized, sport specific program which is designed to address the particular neurological and efficiency demands of our sport.
