About Us

Capital City Rowing is committed to encouraging participation in the sport of rowing. As a member of Capital City Rowing, an athlete will actively participate in the development of rowing skills and physical fitness. They will have the opportunity to develop self-motivation skills, build self-confidence and self-esteem, a competitive spirit, teamwork, academic achievement, and exposure to a positive athletic experience. While winning is important, it is not the primary purpose of Capital City Rowing.

Consistent with this goal, Capital City Rowing recognizes and emphasizes that each member of the team is important, regardless of inherent athletic talent or rowing ability. Capital City Rowing (CCR) was formed in 2008 through a merger of Leon Crew and Tallahassee Area Crew. We continue a rich youth rowing tradition that began over 25 years ago at Leon High and has grown to include athletes from all over Leon County!

CCR is a community of rowers and the coaches, parents and friends who support them. CCR is established for the purposes of providing opportunities for young men and women enrolled in middle or high school, Big Bend Area residents and other program participants to participate in the sport of team rowing for the development of rowing skills, physical fitness, self-motivation and initiative and a competitive spirit and sense of team work. CCR commits to fostering excellence in rowing, fitness, and character for each team member regardless of inherent athletic talent or rowing ability.
