Swim Season 2021

The Montevideo Piranhas Swim Team is dedicated to training young swimmers to swim in a competitive and sportsmanlike manner. The team encourages them to swim their personal best, while having a lot of fun at the same time! Our Valley Cabana Swim League consists of six teams: Montevideo, Los Paseos, Silver Creek, Belwood, Oaktree, and Almaden Golf & Country Club.  This year’s swim season for the Piranhas will look a little different than previous years. It will be a practice season, no meets, and will be an opportunity for swimmers to strengthen their strokes and stay fit.

Swimmers will be assigned to one of five practice groups. Practice will begin in the Montevideo pool on May 17th this year. We are excited to announce that our coaches this year will be: Head Coach Nicole Nelson along with Coach Kylie Smith, Coach Sydney Scott, Coach Lily Mintz, Coach Sophia Nelson and Coach Jaythan Dao. Our coaching staff is comprised of all former Montevideo swimmers.

Team Membership

Registration is held annually. The team is open to all residents of Montevideo starting at age 5 (as of June 1st) to under age 19 with basic swimming skills. Non-resident can become members as space permits. Priority among new members is based on:

1. New Montevideo Residents

2. Siblings of returning non-resident members

2. New non-resident swimmers

New Swimmer Eligibilty

Due to safety protocols, we do not anticipate having coaches in the pool; consequently, younger swimmers must be completely water safe (able to swim 25 yards unassisted) in order to participate this season.

Refund Policy

Swimmers dropping from the team by May 1st will receive a 100% refund of their registration fees. Swimmers who decide to drop by the first day of practice will receive a 50% refund. After that date, there will be no refunds.

Non-Resident Use of the Montevideo Pool

Outside of team swim practice and other team-related events (which are covered by team insurance), our homeowner’s rules state that nonresidents may only use the Montevideo Pool as accompanied guests of Montevideo residents. A guest admission fee will be charged for accompanied non-resident swimmers.
