Team History

The Blackhawk Swim Team, known as the Aquahawks or HOX, was formed in 1982 by a group of families from Hidden Oaks, a Blackhawk Community, who brought together 50 neighbor swimmers to form the original team.  In 1985, the team joined the newly formed six team Valley Swim League. Linda Kralik of Blackhawk was instrumental in developing the team from a loosely knit group of families to a non-profit organization complete with bylaws, committee chairs and elected officers.

The summer recreational swim team has been a part of the Blackhawk Country Club since its inception in 1982.  The Blackhawk swim team has developed in the last thrity years both in size and competitiveness. The HOX team has grown from the original size of 50 kids to an average size of 200 swimmers.  The HOX continues to be a top competitor in the Valley Swim Association and was the league champion from 1998-2008.  In 2012, the HOX reclaimed the title of VSA League Champions.  Blackhawk swim team also makes a strong showing at the annual LMYA fundraiser county meet that takes place in mid August.  The county meet brings together over 54 teams from the area to participate in one of the most competitive recreational swim meet in the United States.  The HOX send dozens of swimmers from each age group who have achieved "county times" to compete with some of the fastest athletes from all over Contra Costa county.  In the last six years, the HOX have finished in the top three at VSA Championships and in the top six at the Contra Costa County Meet.
