NOMAD is a
community-based program dedicated to supporting the swimming needs
of the youth of north Mecklenburg County and surrounding areas. It
was created by Steve Billings in 1991. As a member USA swim
organization, NOMAD is a year-round competition swim team, offering
progressive programs to swimmers on all levels. NOMAD is a coach
owned organization whose first commitment is to the needs of the
swimmers in the program.
The purpose of NOMAD (North
Mecklenburg AQUA DEVILS) is to develop the bodies and minds of our
swimmers through discipline and the spirit of competitive swimming.
The swimmers will develop many social and life skills in our
program. They learn independence through competition.
Swimming requires a strong
commitment and this develops strong discipline in the individual.
Good sportsmanship is stressed at all times by the coaches,
parents, and other teammates. The friendships formed give the
individual needed security when meeting and working with people. In
the end, your child becomes a well-rounded individual.
As parents, we encourage you
to become an active participant of NOMAD. You can watch your
children grow and develop in many ways. Swimming is a family
participation sport through meet involvement, practice,
fund-raising and carpooling. This sport provides something for
A handbook is provided to
help parents and team members understand how NOMAD operates. The
information contained in it may change from season to season and is
designed so that the changes can be made easily.
While NOMAD appreciates the
Olympic dream, NOMAD strives to encourage and further children's
current dreams, goals and abilities. We care, we make you a part of
the family and always make you feel at home - that's what makes us
different! Again, welcome to NOMAD!
