About Penguin
Aquatics
Penguin Aquatics was formed in
February 2011 with one competitive swimmer and one recreational
swimmer as a USA Swimming club for homeschooled students. In
November 2011, we set our first PNS record and the following month,
we qualified all members of our highest age group program for PNS
Champs. In January of 2015, we qualified our first (and original)
member for Olympic Trials. In September of 2015, we expanded to
offer our program to non-homeschooled children as
well.
We offer a progressive training
program for children of all levels, from beginner to national
level. Children ages 5+ who can swim 25 yards unassisted and
are able to follow a coach's instructions are encouraged to
join. Practices are held in Bellevue or on Mercer
Island. Parents are welcome to stay and observe practices or
run errands during practice hours.
Penguin Aquatics offers a small team
setting, with every swimmer receiving daily coaching by a
professional coach with a proven track record of developing
swimmers from novice through Olympic Trials qualifiers. We get to
know each swimmer personally, and make training decisions based on
his or her individual needs, taking into account growth and
development, and his or her body's response to training and
recovery. We choose meets based on each swimmer's abilities and
goals, and provide opportunities to strengthen
weaknesses.
Our program is offered September -
August, with limited hours in August. Penguin Aquatics offers
a multi-swimmer family discount. We do not have any fundraising
requirements or fees, and have no volunteer fees and limited
volunteer requirements.
