About TEAM Charlotte

Team Charlotte Swimming (TEAM) is a year-round competitive USA Swimming program that has served the Charlotte swim community for more than 40 years

TEAM is a parent-directed, nonprofit organization, whose goal is to share the love of swimming with our boys and girls, provide them a safe and fun environment to exercise and compete, and to help them develop into leaders both in and out of the pool.  We are engaged in our community starting with our lessons program and extending all the way to our senior level program for college-bound athletes.

In the 2019-2020 season, TEAM will be comprised of nearly 300 age group swimmers, 10+ professional coaches, and will operate out of 3 aquatic facilities:

  • newly renovated uptown Mecklenburg County Aquatic Center (MCAC),

  • Jewish Community Center on Providence Road, and

  • Matthews Tennis & Swim Club.

TEAM hosts two large, annual swim meets at the uptown MCAC:

  • The TYR Western Open (in January with 1,000+ swimmers participating), and

  • The Sunkissed Championships (in April with 700+ swimmers representing nearly 20 swim teams from across the United States).

Emphasis in our club is placed on building a team among swimmers, coaches, and parents in a supportive and enthusiastic atmosphere.   A comprehensive program of speed, strength, and endurance training, combined with stroke development, mental preparation, and goal setting prepares swimmers for competition - and life.

TEAM coaches see each child as an individual with different goals and abilities.  Coaches individualize their training techniques to best suit each swimmer. The program encourages a well-rounded lifestyle with achievement in other areas of interest outside of swimming.  Team Charlotte boasts a low coach to swimmer ratio and stresses the importance of hard work, learning, having fun and enjoying the life affirming benefits of the sport of swimming and team work.
