Who is OTAC?

Orem Timpanogos Aquatic Club is a year-round swim club. The aim of the team includes helping swimmers improve their swimming abilities, develop stroke technique, strength, and endurance.  OTAC hopes that as swimmers participate, they will have fun, learn to swim better, make good friends, become more fit, and learn lifelong skills of setting goals, teamwork, and the value of hard work and dedication.

How much does your program cost?

Annual USA Swimming Registration fee: $100 (non-refundable paid to USA Swimming)

Beginning Swimmer: $55/month

Intermediate: $65/month

Advanced: $75/month 

Multiple siblings discount available

How good do you need to be?

Swim Team Minimum Requirement: Can swim 25 yards doing freestyle and backstroke and coach approval. Experience in Breaststroke and Butterfly is preferred. Proficiency in each stroke is not required. Coaches look for ability to endure 1 hour workouts and current space available in appropriate workout group.

How old do you have to be?

We take swimmers of all ages from beginner 6 and under up to our masters program over 18.

How often do you practice?

Beginning swim team swimmers are required to attend a minimum of 3 days a week.  Intermediate and advanced workout groups swim at least 5 days a week

What does my swimmer need to bring to a tryout?

Wear a swimsuit and goggles.  Bring a towel.  Long hair should be tied back.

What happens at tryouts?

Swimmers will be asked to swim one length of the pool in Freestyle and Backstroke, they may be asked to do Breaststroke and Butterfly.  Proficiency in each stroke is not required.  Coaches will be looking for the swimmers endurance level. Coaches will then make a recommendation and once you have approval you may go online at: otacswimming.com and register with the appropriate team.

How does my swimmer join?

Each new swimmer must have an evaluation done before registering. Once the evaluation is done you can go online at: otacswimming.com and click the register button and register for the team you were approved for. To sign up for an evaluation please click here.

What swim equipment do I need?

All teams need goggles, swim cap, kick board, fins.

Advanced teams need buoy, paddles

It is helpful to have extra goggles, cap, and swimsuit in your swim bag in case you forget one.  

Do we have to compete in meets?

The only team that doesn't compete in meets is our White 1 team. All other teams compete in meets. We require at least 1 meet per quarter for our beginning teams and 2 or more per quarter for our intermediate and advanced teams.
