2017 Important Info!

Welcome to the 2017 High Woodlands Dolphins Swim Team

Registration begins April 1st.

The Dolphins Swim Team is a member of the Midlakes Swim League in Division 5. We swim one meet a week from Kirkland to Bellevue. Practices start May 15th. Meets begin June 15th ending with the Division Champs on July 15th. July 23rd is the League Championship (swimmers must qualify).

We are happy to welcome back long-time Dolphins Coach Annie Price. She has year-round coaching experience and has worked with the Midlakes Summer League for many years. She brings enthusiasm and experience and is excited for a successful swim season!

This year we're also welcoming a new Assistant Coach, Allie Knerr.  Allie is an accomplished summer-league, year-round, and high school swimmer, and we're very happy to have her join our Dolphin family.

Heather Clarke will be continuing as the Manager for the 2017 season.

Every family must be a member of the pool to participate. However, there will be a limited number of Swim Team Only Memberships. The cost is $50 per family, which is added to the cost of team registration These are for families who are NOT residents of High Woodlands or Guest Members of the Pool and are granted on a first-to-pay basis. Swim Team Only Members do not have any pool privileges except during swim team practices, team events and meets. However, they are given the member rate for swim lessons if they choose to enroll their swimmer(s).

We are again conducting a mail-in registration. The cost is:

By April 21                    April 21 to May 26

1 swimmer              $105                             $125

2 swimmers            $180                              $200

3+ swimmers          $225                              $245

After May 26th, registration is closed.

Please click  HERE  for registration forms. Make checks out to HIGH WOODLANDS SWIM TEAM. You must turn in ALL forms to have your registration processed. To receive the lower price, registration forms must be postmarked by April 21, 2017.

Additionally, we will be holding all registrations for new swimmers until April 21, 2017, at which time we will begin to fill positions on our team. If we have too many interested swimmers for a particular age group, priority will be give to families of returning swim team members, High Woodlands residents and guest members.  After April 21, 2017, registrations will be accepted on a space-available basis and at a higher cost.

Eligibility: All swim team applicants MUST be able to swim 25 yards of crawl stroke without touching the bottom of the pool or holding on to the lane lines, (deep water safe). We recommend that children be at least currently enrolled in Kindergarten. The coaches or manager reserve the right to refer any child to swim lessons who does not meet this condition or is unable to pay attention or follow instructions. This is a safety issue. Please remember that swim team is not a substitute for swim lessons. If a child is referred to swim lessons, the full registration fee will be refunded for that child. If the child withdraws, please inform the team manager by May 26th, and a full refund will be available. After that date, the registration fees are forfeited. In order to promote team unity we require swimmers to attend practices during the week in order to swim at the meets and to attend at least two dual meets.

Swim Suits: We will use the same uniform swimsuit this year as last -- the Dolfin Zephyr in blue. This year Sylvia's Swimwear will be handling suit sales for the High Woodlands Dolphins. Representatives from Sylvia's will be at the pool May 15th from 6 to 8 pm for suit fittings. Suits will be available to try on and purchase that evening (no shipping costs!). Sylvia's accepts cash, check, Visa, Mastercard and Discover.

Please plan on coming in for your suit fitting before your group's practice time, when everyone is still dry.

Sylvia's will also have sample sizes of sweatshirts and a "pajama" pant to try on during the suit fitting. These items will be available to purchase online only. Additionally, the team suit will be available to order online. This is a great option if you are unable to attend the suit fitting and you know your suit size.

Practices: The first workout is May 15th at the pool, but please note that there will be no 8 & Under practice that evening to allow for the Parents meeting. Tha t night is very busy for the coaches and lifeguards. Swimmers must attend their swim group's practice. Practices are from 7:00-9:15 p.m. until school is out, then practices are from 7:00-9:45 a.m. Practice times for specific age groups will be on the calendar by May 1st and discussed at the parents' meeting.

Parents' Meeting: All parents, please plan to attend an informational meeting May 15th at the park under the covered shelter. The meeting will start at 7:00 p.m.

Parent Volunteers: The swim team is impossible to run without parent volunteers. We need your help and commitment. We expect every family to work at every home meet their child swims in, at B-champs, and to help at a minimum of one away meet. We have many jobs that need to be filled. Sign ups will be available online after May 16th. The best jobs go fast! Thank you so much for your support of our swim team. We're looking forward to a great season!
