The Willows Wave Swim
Team is a member of the New Jersey Swimming & Diving
Conference. The Conference consists of 32 teams divided into three
leagues based on team strength and the previous season's record.
The Willows is in the B League (Red) for 2017.
The team is open to all full season members regardless of
bond status ages 5 to 18 that are able to swim at least one length
of the pool. The team does not offer "swim team only" memberships.
Swimmers compete in one of five age groups: 8 & under, 9-10,
Team practices start on the 1st Tuesday after Memorial Day and are
held on Monday- Friday until school ends. Children are assigned to
one of three groups based on age. Practices are held from 6:00 -
8:15 PM until the end of school. When school is finished the
practice groups move to weekday mornings or Tues.& Thursday
evenings to accommodate summer camp schedules.
The team competes in 8 - 10 dual meets, League Championships* &
Conference Championships**. There are also extra meets (Roycefield
Sprints & Brookside Mini-Minnow) where some team members
participate. These extra meets will be posted on the
The Dual Meets are held on Wednesday evenings and Saturday mornings
from the end of June to the end of July.
Championships will be held the last Saturday in July and
the Conference Championships are held the following Tuesday and
All swimmers are expected to attend the dual meets and the
League Championship* meet (usually refered to as
CHAMPIONSHIPS). The conference** championship
(usually refered to as CONFERENCES) is open to swimmers meeting the
The team is supported by a parent committee who assesses a
registration fee of $70.00 per swimmer which covers, coaching,
entry fees to relays in league championships, awards and gifts and
miscellaneous team expenses.
Parents are required to volunteer at 3-4 dual meets. There are many
jobs available at the meets, such as timers, officials, food
sellers, scorers, ribbon writers, and 50/50 sellers. A $100 work
bond is collected with registration and is returned when the family
fulfills their work requirements.
All children of the club are encouraged to join the swim team. Look

*All swimmers are expected to attend the League
Championships. For most swimmers this is the culmination of
the season. The teams the Willows faces during the dual meet
season gather to determine the League Champion.
**Qualifying times are needed to enter the Conference Championships
which is held the Tuesday and Wednesday after League
Championships. Swimmers from all leagues gather to crown
individual and relay champions from the conference. In
2017 the Conference consisted of three leagues. Leagues
A, B, and C make up the Conference.
