NKSL History
The Northern Kentucky Swim League (NKSL) is dedicated to promoting
and amateur swimming and diving, and fostering good sportsmanship
within local competitions. The league operates as a 501
(C)(3) non-profit corporation. The league is governed by a
Board of Delegates, which consists of a non-employee Delegate or
non-employee alternate delegate of each member club. Only
Delegates or their designated alternates have the right to vote on
matters before the Board. In addition to the Delegates, the
NKSL has the following officers, which are elected by the
Board: President, Vice President, Secretary, and
Treasurer. All officers serve 2 year terms, with the
exception of the Vice President, which is the Delegate from the
club hosting the Championship Swim Meet for that year.
The league started in 1963 with 8 member teams. The initial
member teams were: Beechwood Swim Club, Bluegrass Swim Club,
Brookwood Swim Club, Cherry Hill Swim Club, Fort Thomas Swim Club,
Highlands Country Club, Ludlow-Bromley Swim Club, and Triple
“E” Swim Club. The inaugural Diving Championship
was held on August 19, 1963 at Fort Thomas Swim Club and the
Swimming Championships were held on August 20 & 21, 1963 at
Ludlow-Bromley Swim Club. Over the years, the number of
member teams has changed as pools closed, new pools opened, or new
teams joined the league. In 2013, the league is celebrating
its 50th Anniversary. The league now consists of
11 teams:

Delegates are always interested in capturing some of the history of
the league. So, if you have any documents, pictures or
stories you’d like to share, feel free to submit them to the
League President.
Lastly, the entire Board of Delegates thanks the parents, officials
and founders of the NKSL for entrusting the ongoing operation of
the league to them. There’s a proud history and
tradition for the NKSL, and all the Board of Delegates are honored
to have an opportunity to follow in the footsteps of the
visionaries who first established the league.
