About the Barracudas

The Berkeley Barracudas Swim Club is a non-profit organization that is open to the general public to better serve the Tampa Bay community. The Barracudas offer year-round competitive training for all ages . Our staff of professionally-certified coaches is prepared to encourage and motivate members to perform at their personal best. The Berkeley Barracudas practice at Berkeley Preparatory School's Cantonis Pool. Members enjoy daily practice in our temperature-controlled junior olympic sized pool.

The Barracuda’s swim team uses the sport of swimming and its environment to teach life’s lessons. We use swimming as a way to teach goal setting, dedication, commitment, and a strong work ethic. The Berkeley Barracuda swim club takes a long term philosophy to swimming. We emphasize kicking and technique at the younger ages, and progress to IM training as the athletes grow in the program. This philosophy allows athletes to become their best in their teenage and college years. The Barracudas provides the opportunity for all athletes in the sport of swimming to swim for the love of the sport and to reach their highest potential.

Alumni and current athletes have competed in many local and state competitions as well as represented the program in national level competitions. Swimmers have earned athletic scholarships to Clemson University, Emory University, Cumberland University, Georgetown, Tufts, Gardner-Web University, University of Florida, University of Richmond and Stanford University.
The coaching staff realizes that children develop at different speeds so we have set up programs that allow them to move at their own pace. The club is designed to develop all levels of swimming while unifying over one team goal: to make a positive impact on the Tampa community.
