GSH
Mission
To provide a progressive,
holistic swimming program for developmental, competitive and club
swimmers in a co-operative and supportive environment. The club
will strengthen and promote competitive swimming in the
community.
Our Club
Philosophy
The Goulbourn Sea Hawks
is an enthusiastic and energetic club dedicated to the vision that
hard work and discipline required by this sport can and should be
both rewarding and fun. We believe the sport of competitive
swimming should provide all swimmers the opportunity to develop to
their full potential, without excessive pressure, in a supportive,
injury-free and non-aggressive environment.
The competitive team is a
member of Swim Canada and is guided by our club "Vision" and
"Mission" statements. Governed by the by-laws, the volunteer Board
of Directors oversees the general operation of the club. The
competitive program, under the direction of our head coach,
provides an environment for all levels of swimmers to maximize
their swimming potential and consists of new swimmers competing for
the first time through to National Qualifiers aspiring to make the
national team.
History:
Our club was originally
formed in 2000 under the name Goulbourn Aquatic Club. In 2007 the
club decided to change their name and held a contest among the 2007
registered club swimmers.
Tim
Holland submitted the winning name:Goulbourn Sea
Hawks
With the new name, we
needed a new logo. A second contest was held with registered
swimmers. They were asked to submit artwork
for a new logo.
Hailey
Kehler submitted the winning logo.
The use of our logo
is strictly prohibited
GSH is a not for profit - sporting club. The GSH board is
all volunteers from the swim team and your community. Only the
coaches and administration are contracted and paid for the
jobs they do. The board members (swim families) make
financial commitments to run the club for the year on behalf of all
GSH members. All families who join are part of this commitment and
this is the reason for the contract all families sign. The club
must honor this financial commitment to the city for pool costs,
our coaches and administrative costs for the full season.
