about!
Club
Philosophy
The
philosophy of the Vernon Kokanee Swim Club and its coaching staff
is simple. We are a competitive swim club and our mandate
is:
-
To foster
excellence in competitive swimming from a grassroots level to the
international level through the training of our swimmers in all
aspects of the sport.
-
To instill
other traits useful in competitive swimming that will make the
Vernon Kokanee Swim Club one of the best clubs in the
country.
Our ideal
goal is to have swimmers enter the program at a grassroots level
and remain in the club until graduation from high school and
potentially go on to swim at a university level. We hope our
members will take the skills they learned as competitive swimmers
and apply them in other aspects of their lives in their pursuit of
personal excellence.
We find
athlete's who pursue excellence when they are in a sport, learn
discipline, commitment, and a keen competitive instinct that helps
them in school and all other aspects of their
lives.
Swimming is
in an individual sport, yet we foster the concept of team spirit
within the club. Working together as a team as well as individually
will allow us to attain the excellence we are
pursuing.
Finally, one
could summarize the philosophy with the following idea: we are not
only seeking excellence as competitive swimmers, but striving to
build well rounded, autonomous individuals who will endevour to
reach for personal excellence after they finish
swimming.
