Our club is a USA Swimming year round competitive swim team offering high quality professional coaching and technique instruction for all ages and abilities. The goal of our team is to provide every member an opportunity to improve swimming skills and achieve success at his or her level of ability, from novice to international competitor.

All of our coaches, as members of the American Swim Coaches Association, have access to the most comprehensive training and certification program for youth coaches of any sport in the United States. They provide assurances that the time children spend swimming will be quality time.

Our focus is to grow and train young swimmers in order to maintain a well-rounded competitive swim team.

Team History

The 92nd Street Y Flying Dolphins Swim Team, a program of the 92nd Street YM-YWMA, was founded in the fall of 1973 making this our 39th season!  We are recognized throughout the city as an excellent year-round swim training program. The team offers a progressive program for young people ranging in age from 6-18 years. This team provides a forum for developing young people’s awareness of the importance of fitness and enjoyment of the sport of swimming. Our coaching staff supports camaraderie among teammates, while also engaging each swimmer through individual attention.

Coaching Philosophy and Mission Statement

Our mission is to develop abilities in our young people that will inspire and empower them to achieve excellence in life through a positive competitive swimming experience. We believe that our sport teaches fundamental life skills that are invaluable beyond the pool. By molding, teaching, and instructing our athletes, we aim to develop in them the self-discipline, personal responsibility, physical fitness, and personal excellence necessary for success in competitive swimming and beyond.
