Coach Peter Perers...

Coach Tom Fritchen was born and raised in Racine, WI. He started his swimming career as a Freshman at Washington Park High School where he was named captain his Senior year. Attending the University of Wisconsin-River Falls, he continued to swim for 4 years where he was voted captain his Junior and Senior year by his fellow teammates. During his 4 years swimming for UWRF he received the Most Improved, Most Inspirational, and Falcon Awards by his teammates and coaches.

After swimming with the UWRF Swim Team in the Spring of 2008, he volunteered as a coach in which he focused on distance and technique. Shortly after he was hired as a paid Assistant Coach. Tom also started coaching at Hudson Area Swim Association (HASA) in 2009 at the Novice and Age Group levels, and took on the role as Interim Head Coach when the Head Coach resigned. During his time with HASA he had many States and Zones level swimmers and some State record holders. Tom is really excited to start coaching for Mecklenburg Swim Association and working with the Age Group swimmers. Tom has a Bachelor in Fine Arts with a major studio in Painting and a minor studio in Glass Blowing.

Coach Patty Waldron has been in love with the sport of swimming for 42 years and counting! She learned to swim in Charlotte at Rama Swim Club and then swam year round for a decade at the Johnston Memorial YMCA. She continued her swimming at UNC Chapel Hill and enjoyed four years of collegiate swimming…….being a part of 4 ACC Championships and 4 team top ten in the country finishes.   During the college summer months (while training and competing), Patty began her coaching career at Sardis Swim and Racket Club. Upon graduating from UNC Chapel Hill with a BA in Education (Health and Physical Education K-12) Patty began year round coaching at SwimMAC and enjoyed her 29 years there developing the program, coaching both Age Group and Masters. Patty enjoys working with all levels of swimmers bubble blowers through national caliber.

Patty began swimming and coaching Masters right out of college (1984) and despite a 15 year lay-off she currently holds 13 NC Masters State Records in three different age groups.  She is a former Masters National Record holder in the 25-29 200 yard Butterfly and was ranked number one in the nation in the 100 yard Butterfly 30-34 Masters. One thing lead to another and Patty enjoyed the sport of triathlon competing at the Olympic, ½ Ironman and Ironman distances. Outside of the pool she enjoys biking, hiking, and seeing live music with her husband Tom and friends. Patty also is enjoying the role of “GramPatty”, playing and loving on her grandkids.

After a brief retirement Patty is happily back on deck with the Mecklenburg Swim Association Masters. She will bring her knowledge and enthusiasm to MSA Masters creating an environment of learning and fun! The three F’s will be the cornerstone of the MSA Masters program……Fun, Fitness and Friends!
