Our Mission

Olympic Cascade Aquatics strives to promote swimming as a lifetime sport to its member families and the community, and provide a comprehensive development program for its members to pursue and achieve their competitive potential at the highest possible level in the sport.

OCA is a coach-owned USA Swimming program that works closely in association with the Mercerwood Shore Club (MSC), the Mercer Island Country Club (MICC), Mary Wayte pool  (MW) and its non-profit volunteer Booster Association. 


Convenient Pool Locations

Headquartered on Mercer Island, OCA pools are centrally located and easy to access from I-90 and I-405.  Mercerwood Shore Club and Mercer Island Country Club pools are open-air in the spring/summer, and covered in the fall/winter making the facilities conducive to training 12 months of the year.


United Team

OCA is a cohesive group of swimmers and parents with a deep connection to the community. Even though our team is new, we are enthusiastic supporters of our coaches, and are enthusiastically involved in creating a successful program that will enrich the lives of all who are a part of it. Please join us!


Training Groups

Olympic Cascade Aquatics offers training and practice groups for swimmers of all ages and ability levels. It is the goal of OCA to offer age specific training for all of our athletes geared towards challenging each individual and developing each individual to the best of THEIR abilities.

NOVICE 1

This is the entry practice group geared toward swimmers in the youngest age groups Swimmers will learn all four competitive strokes with the goal of completing a legal 100 IM.  Swimmers will be introduced to fun local competitions. Minimum requirements: 25 yards of Freestyle and 25 Yards of Backstroke and familiar with Breaststroke and Butterfly.  Age range 6-9yrs. Practice 3 times a week for 45 minutes

NOVICE 2

This group is focused on improving skill and gaining competitive experience. The swimmer will refine all four of their strokes and skills (starts, turns, and under waters) with the goal of completing a legal 200 IM.  Other basic skills of the sport will be taught so that the swimmer can read a pace clock, follow lane etiquette, and enjoy the fun team aspects of the sport with their friends. Participation in USA sanction competitions is required. Age range 8-11yrs practice 3 days a week for 1 hour

JUNIOR 1

The focus of this group is on improving technique in all strokes and racing skills with the goal of completing a legal 100 of each stroke in competition. There is an expectation to compete and participate in USA sanctioned swim meets.  Age range 9-12yrs practices are 60 minutes 4 days a week.

Minimum requirements: 4 legal strokes and 9 years old to enter practice group

JUNIOR 2

This practice group is focused on development of advance competitive swimming skills. Swimmer in this group continues to emphasize skill development with a greater focus on physical training to maintain technique over longer races (introduce 200s of each stroke and 400 IM).  Race strategy will be refined and a focus on local and regional competitions. Dry land is introduced in this group. Age range 11-14yrs. Practice 1-hour 15 min to 1 hour 30 min 5 days a week.

SENIOR 1

This practice group works to develop the dedication, fitness and desire to become an accomplished senior level (open) competitive swimmer. The athletes focus on advanced technique development and race strategy skills, as well as physical training.  Introduction to nutrition, dry land training and goal setting will allow group members to succeed at the State and Regional Championships.

Practices are 90 minutes 5 days a week.

SENIOR 2

This group trains to achieve each individual’s highest performance potential in swimming. These athletes are dedicated swimmers who have high-level goals. Attendance is required and practices are physically and mentally challenging.  Athlete preparation in this group will provide a foundation for national level competition and a successful college swimming careers. Age range 13 and beyond.

Practices are 2 hours 6 days a week. 

OCA Non Competitive Alternative

OCA offers swimmers who prefer not to compete an alternate route to refine their swimming skills and stay in great physical shape. For athletes who would prefer this type of environment OCA offers a variety of options:

OCA Riptides 8 and under

OCA Riptides 9-11

OCA Middle School

OCA High School
