The Nassau Bay Swim Team (Nauticats) is a non-profit organization formed in 1964. Community parents and volunteers manage and operate the team. The team was originally known as the Nassau Bay Swim and Dive Team, but skyrocketing insurance rates forced the board to rule out the diving option in 1989.
Nassau Bay was one of the original five founding teams in the Clear Creek Swim League (CCSL), also started in 1964. The league has now grown to 20 teams and has a board of governors with representatives from each member club. Rules for the competitors are prescribed by the CCSL board and continue to be updated and published yearly in the CCSL Handbook.
The Nassau Bay Nauticats offers training and practice groups for swimmers starting at age 5. All swimmers must be 5 years old as of May 1 of the current year. It is the goal of the Nassau Bay Nauticats to offer age specific training for all of our athletes geared towards challenging and developing each individual to the best of his or her ability. Our annual registration usually runs from late March through mid-April. Our practices begin in late April and our first meet is usually in mid- to late May. We ask that all new swimmers have the ability to cross the pool unassisted. Swim meets are every Saturday morning from mid-May through the end of June and we require all swimmers to swim in at least one swim meet per season.
The cost of annual team membership is as follows:
1st Swimmer $150
2nd Swimmer $125
3rd Swimmer $100
4th (and beyond) FREE
Swimmers 16 years and older $75 (*not eligible for multi-swimmer discount*)
Our team relies heavily on parental involvement in order to operate. Every family is required to volunteer at meets, team events, and/or in some Board-appointed capacity.
The Nauticats are handled administratively by a Board of member parents. The Board is governed by written bylaws. You may view those bylaws here. We hold yearly election of members and are always seeking members for various roles. Please contact us if you're interested in contributing!
