Coach Dan Tanski joined the Starfish in 2015, bringing with him a great deal of experience developing swimmers of all levels. Prior to working with the Starfish, Dan served as head coach of the Southern Saratoga YMCA Barracudas since 2007. In his tenure with the Barracudas, the team quickly became one of the strongest YMCA teams in New York State, winning 6 consecutive North Country League Championships and consistently competing for the Y State Championship. Coach Dan’s swimmers have been regulars on the Adirondack All-Star team for the Eastern Zone Age Group Championship Meest, and his teams have produced multiple Speedo Sectional and YMCA National Championship qualifiers. Dan is a graduate of Sage College with a degree in Physical Education. He resides in Albany with his daughter, Cecilia.
Coach Joshua Wolin is in his
second season as the Co-Head Coach of the Albany
Starfish and site director at the Ravena South
Site. Coach Josh began his swimming career in White Plains,
NY; swimming for Fairview Aquatic Swim Team (F.A.S.T.). From
there he moved to the Condors Swim Club before landing with the
Pace Setters Swim Club, where he finished his swimming career. In
his first coaching job, Josh became the diving coach at the
Greenburg Swim Team, where he developed a number of top 10 divers
at Westchester County Championships. The following year, he took
over as the Head Swim Coach for the Torview Swim Club where he
led them to back to back league championships in 2009 and 2010. In
2011, he graduated from SUNY Albany with a major in Biology and a
minor in Theatre and took a position with the Bethlehem YMCA where
he helped form the BAY Rays Swim team. Over the course of 4 years,
the team grew to over 175 swimmers and finished 2nd overall at the
YMCA New York State Championship in 2015. Since joining the Albany
Starfish, Coach Josh has developed 1 Jr. National Qualifier, 6
Speedo Sectional qualifiers, a number Age Group Zone
Qualifiers and even more Gold Qualifiers.
Coach Lori Antolick is
beginning her second season with the Starfish Swim Club coaching
staff as the White Squad coach as well as working with the Black
Squad! Coach Lori is a graduate of Canandaigua Academy in
Canandaigua, NY where she was school record holder and Section V
Champion in the 100 breastroke. She then graduated from The Johns
Hopkins University in 1997 where she was an NCAA All-American
in the 100 breastroke and an Academic All-American. She later
graduated from Syracuse University College of Law in 2000. Coach
Lori coached for the Albany Starfish from 2000 to 2004.
She works as a tax litigation attorney and has two
Starfish swimmers - Carly (8) and Ellen (6).
Coach Mark Bender is looking forward to working with the High School Prep group in his second season with the Starfish Swim Club. Coach Mark brings years of coaching experience to the Starfish and will do great things with the squad. He grew up in Saratoga Springs where he competed at the high school level as well as in club swimming. Swimming for Saratoga High School he was a school record holder in the 100 Breaststroke and 200 Medley Relay. After High School he went to SUNY Oswego where he was a SUNYAC Finalist and continued to be involved with the program as an assistant coach after graduating. Coach Mark joins us after being a well respected coach for the Niskayuna Rowing program for the past three seasons.
Coach Bill McDonald is excited to join the Albany Starfish Swim Team working primarily with the pre-competitive, white, black and gray groups at the newly formed Ravena South Sight. Growing up in Selkirk, NY, Bill began teaching swimming at 15 years old and has been a swim instructor for over 20 years. As a teacher in New York State, Bill has also coached Baseball and Track at the high school level. He graduated from SUNY Potsdam with a Bachelor’s degree in History, Psychology, and a Master’s degree in Elementary Education. For the past four years, Bill was the Assistant Head Coach of the BAY Rays Swim Team, where he facilitated the development of the 2014 8&under girls NYS YMCA State Champion. In 2015, Bill was the primary coach overseeing the 8&under boys, who finished 1st at the NYS YMCA State Championships. Coach Bill brings with him a wealth of knowledge in, developmental stroke mechanics, and a caring demeanor that works great with training young swimmers
Sam is an age group coach out of our Ravena Site. Sam began his swimming career with the Ravena-Coeyman-Selkirk Varsity swim team, which he later joined as an assitant coach.
Coach Dylan Karlok is returning to the Albany Starfish after a year abroad. Dylan will be working with our Age Group Squads out of NIskayuna. Dylan was an accomplished swimmer at both the club level and high school level. At the high school level he was a Sectional champion, as well as a State qualifier>
Coach Caelin Gordon-Stacey
joined the starfish team in fall of 2017. Caelin herself swam for
the RAVE swim club at the RCS high school until injuring her
shoulder and taking a break from the competitive swim scene.
Caelin works with our age group swimmers at north site. She
hopes to encourage the love of swimming in children while also
making sure swimming is fun. Her other priority is creating good
habits and technique to ensure against wear and tear on our
swimmers’ bodies. Caelin’s younger brother,
Druhan, is a senior swimmer at south site. She currently attends
Hudson Valley Community College where she is studying art and
coaching. Caelin also volunteers as a studio assistant at a small
