James "Jamie" has been the head coach of the Biloxi Elite Swim Team, the Mississippi Gulf Coast's premier USA Swimming program since its charter in September 2007.  Born and raised in Biloxi, Mississippi, Jamie has an extensive background in aquatics.   He began his swimming career at the age of 5 with the Gulf Coast Swim League swimming for the Biloxi Red Tide, then moved to the SURF swim team, and was a member boys' Biloxi High Swim team.  Jamie went to work at the Biloxi Natatorium in May 1998 coaching various swim teams, teaching swim lessons, and lifeguarding before going off to college.
      
Jamie attended the University of Southern Mississippi and graduated with a B.A. in Recreation Administration in 2004.  He then attended the University of Mississippi as a graduate assistant and finished with a M.A. in Park & Recreation Management in 2006.  He returned to the City of Biloxi in 2006 being hired as an Aquatic Specialist at the Natatorium.  He now works as the Recreation Superintendent for the Parks & Recreation Department as well as coaching.  Jamie is also a certified Level III ASCA professional competitive swim coach. 
 
In addition to being the head coach of Biloxi Elite, he is also the head coach for the Biloxi High School boys' team.  As a result of his hard work and dedication to Mississippi Swimming but especially to Biloxi Elite Swim Team Jamie was voted "Mississippi's Age Group Coach of the Year 2012" and "Mississippi's Senior Coach of the year 2014 & 2015" by his fellow coaches in Mississippi Swimming.  Jamie also currently serves as the Coach's Representative for Mississippi Swimming.

Tanja has been working for the City of Biloxi Department of Parks and Recreation since 1999.  She started working as a lifeguard and eventually began coaching swimming for the City of Biloxi with many of it's different teams.  In 2010 she started coaching with the Biloxi Elite Swim Team.  She served as an assistant coach for the MS Zones Team in 2012 and 2013.  Tanja is an ASCA Level II Professional Competitive Swim Coach and an American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor.

She started her swimming career at the age of 11, swimming for the Steyr Swim team in her hometown of Steyr Austria.   She swam well enought to compete in the Childrens World Championship where she finished 8th in the 100 Breaststroke.  Tanja was selected for the 1980 Austrian Olympic Team in Breast Stroke.  Tanja also played water polo in Memmingen Germany and was  a member of the Life Saving/Life Guarding team where her team finished 2nd at the National level.

Megan G Andino

Megan has been coaching for BEST since 2015.  She began swimming competitively at the age of 12 and has been involved with the sport since then.  She received her Bachelors of Art degree from the University of Louisiana Monroe and is currently a Level 1 swim coach.  Megan has over 10 years of coaching experience and enjoys working with our younger swimmers helping them to perfect their strokes.

Michele began swimming by the age of 5. Every summer she spent every moment her parents allowed her to in the water. Over time she became proficient in the Freestyle stroke; teaching herself how to bilateral breathe. 

In 2010, she obtained a job with the Blossman Family YMCA, as an American Red Cross certified lifeguard and swim instructor. Today, she is a Level 2 Swim Coach with ASCA and the lead swim instructor at the Blossman facility; teaching patrons skills ranging from basic water safety to triathlon training.

Michele stresses the benefits of dry land "core" exercises to her swimmers, paired with proper nutrition and hydration.  She maintains her own level of fitness with a combination of swimming, running, rock climbing and kickboxing; along with a sensible nutritious diet plan.
