Dave Tontini is in his first year as Head Coach of Island Swimming
Club. Dave coached at Pointe-Claire Swim Club in Montréal
for 10 years before making the big move out west. He has had
success at every level he’s coached, including coaching
multiple Junior National champions and a 2017 Canada Games
Medalist. Dave was an integral part of the Pointe-Claire Swim Club
program that won three consecutive Junior National
Dave is an NCCP level 3 trained coach and a graduate of McGill
University. He is known for his high energy and enthusiastic
coaching style. He prides himself on his ability to keep swimmers
motivated and engaged.
Assistant Head Coach
Originally from Quebec, Annie began coaching at the age of 17. In 1999 she moved to BC, working under the UBC umbrella as an Assistant Coach at Vancouver Pacific Swim Club for 3 years followed by 2 years as the Head Coach of the Winskill Dolphins. For the past 12 years, she has been the Assistant Head Coach of the Pacific Sea Wolves. She has her NCCP level 3 and graduated from the National Coaching Institute diploma program with NCI Pacific. She has completed a mentorship program working with National/International coaches and participated in the Pan Am and Commonwealth Games as well as the World Championships in Montreal. After almost 25 years of coaching mostly swimmers from the age of 10 to 16 years old, her goal is to give them the best age group swimming experience and ultimately developing well rounded swimmers who can be successful at the next level.
Assistant Coach - Island Black
This is Riley's third year with ISC, for the last two years Riley was the Westshore Lead Coach but is joining Saanich Commonwealth Place this year the Island Black coach. Originally from Saskatoon Riley started swimming at the age of 6. Riley held 14 club and 8 age-group provincial records before he joined the Canadian National Team at the age of 15. Riley was part of the 2004 Olympic swim team, was a member of 2002 Commonwealth Games & Pan Pacific Championships winning Bronze Medals 4 x 100 Medley Relay and has been inducted into the Saskatoon Sports Hall of Fame.
Assistant Coach - Island Blue @ SCP
Originally from Calgary, Cole has spent the last 5 years coaching with the Cascade Swim Club, working as a head coach for age group, 10&U athletes, and summer club programs. Cole is currently attending UVic studying health and physical education and will be joining ISC as Island Blue coach at Saanich Commonwealth Place.
Assistant Coach - ISC Green and Schools
This is Tannaz's 5th season with Island
Swimming, being the Lead Coach at SCP for Green and continuing in
leading the School Swim & Race Program. Within the last 5
years, she has worked with
ISS groups all the way to the Senior level.
Originally from Ontario, Tannaz has always loved the nature of
competitive sport and keeping kids swimming at all ages and levels.
Tannaz is a previous UVic Varsity swimmer, bringing different
experiences to her coaching on deck!
Tannaz has also been highly involved with Summer Club programs with
Sidney Piranhas as a previous Head Coach and as a Regional Coach.
Tannaz is currently working on her NCCP Level 2
Assistant Coach - Gold & Liaison
In addition to being the Lead Coach for the Island Swim Skills Gold Group, Avila is also the coordinator and lead coach for the Island Swim Skills Bronze, and Wave Skills liaison programs.
Avila is a Victoria native! In her teens, Avila was both a competitive swimmer and instructor/life guard. Avila joined ISC more than 20 years ago. As Lead Coach for the Gold group Avila gives developmental swimmers a great start technically. She also coordinates Island's School Swim & Race Program for more than 16 school swim clubs in the Greater Victoria area. Avila coaches and competes for the Victoria Masters Swim Club. Avila has a BEd from UVic, is an avid masters swimmer and triathlete.
Jared has been a member of island swimming since 2012, he was
originally from Kamloops where he swam and coached summer club.
Jared brings his swimming background from learning at a young age
and not being able to float to making it to finals at
nationals. Jared has been coaching since he was 14 where he started
out with teaching technique to summer development groups and then
later became the head coach of Kamloops Tsunami Summer swimming.
This year he will be leading the SCP Silver groups and the new
Conditioning & technical goup. Excited to teach development to
all ages and have swimmers accel in their athletic career this

Head Coach - Lead at Juan de Fuca
Wouter returns to the Island
coaching staff this year as lead coach at the Juan de Fuca
Pool where he will coach the Island Blue and ISS Gold
Originally from the Netherlands,
he moved to Vernon at the age of 8 where he swam and went to
school. In 2014, Wouter moved to Victoria where he swam with
Island Swimming and the High Performance Center's Next-Gen training
program. The last 2 years he spent the summer in the Okanagan
as the head coach of the Lumby Lightning Swim Club, a summer club
just east of his home town. Wouter currently goes to Camosun
College where he is working on a bachelor's degree in athletic and
exercise therapy. Wouter is also working on his NCCP level 2
