Meet the Stingrays Coaches:
Head Coach: Alison Collins, I was born a “water baby” and still love the water for my own fitness. I started swimming at age 9 in Winnipeg. When I came to get my B.P.E. in Edmonton, I captained the Pandas Swim Team. I loved it so much, I went straight into coaching and have been on deck with the Edmonton Blue Fins, Keyano Swim Club and the University of Alberta and then, of course, the Stingrays. More than swimming is my love for children, investing in their hearts. A career highlight was coaching in China for a season, readying those swimmers for their national championships. I coached with the Stingrays for the past 12 years and am a fully certified NCCP level 3 coach.
Coach Barbara: I began swimming with the Stingrays at age ten. Within two seasons I had qualified for my first Alberta Age Group Championships. I swam with the team for four seasons before retiring my swim cap and joining our group of talented coaches. I am now a certified Community Sport Coach. I have always had a passion for swimming and find so much fulfillment in teaching the next generation of Stingrays and watching that same love of the sport grow in them. I have coached for the Stingray Junior pool for a couple years now and love every day of it.
Coach Chloe: I started swimming lessons when I was 3 years old . At age eleven I joined a junior lifeguard club, then senior lifeguard club at 14 where I was certified as a Water Safety Instructor and National Lifeguard. I began coaching for the Stingrays in 2016 and since have coached junior swimmers, senior swimmers and dryland. Since coaching with the Stingrays I have attained my Swimming 101 Coach certification. I was also honored to receive the ‘Coach Dedication Award’ in 2017. Currently I am in my third year of my Bachelor of Arts degree and because of my coaching experience I plan to continue my education to complete my Bachelor of Education to become an elementary school teacher.
Coach Devin: Devin started his swim career as a youngster in competitive diving. He transitioned to competitive swimming under the tutelage of his parents, Neil and Lyn Lepps with the Silvertide Swim Club. Devin founded the Sherwood Park Swim Club in 2003 and was a well-respected head coach for over 16 years. He instilled a strong culture of correct technique first and foremost and his reputation as a swimming technician is unparalleled.
Coach Holly: I originally started swimming as a child with the Junior Lifeguard Club here in Sherwood Park. After taking a break from swimming to pursue other athletic opportunities, I recently began swimming with the Edmonton Master's club. I am a Licensed Practical Nurse, and am currently working on completing her BScN.
Coach Levi: I have always loved the water, and was enrolled at an early age in Red Cross lessons. I have coached with the Stingrays for 5 years since 2015, first as a Junior coach then with the Seniors as well. I enjoy working with young people to achieve their goals and inspire them to reach their potential. I am currently working on finishing my Level 2 NCCP Coaching certification.
Coach Lindsey: I have been part of the Sherwood Park Swim Club since grade 4. First as a competitive swimmer, then as a coach for the past 4 years in the junior pool. I have completed my Swimming 101 certification and I also hold my National Lifeguard Certification. I competed with the Archbishop Jordan Swim Team while I was in High School. I am currently a student at the University of Alberta.
Coach Michaylah: I have been coaching for the Stingrays for over 5 years, and completed my Level 1 NCCP Coaching certification. I hope to continue my coaching education in future seasons. I began swimming for the Stingrays at the age of 6 and have been a part of the club since, either as an athlete or a coach. Currently I am a student at the University of Alberta where I am completing my Undergraduate degree in Science.
Coach Nicole: I started swimming competitively with the Truro Centurions Swim Club at age 9, and joined the Stingrays 3 years later. I have been coaching in the junior pool for the past 3 years and continue to swim competitively both with the Stingrays and my high school team until last year. I am currently finishing off my last semester of high school.
Coach Shaeley: I have been swimming with the Sherwood Park Swim Club since grade 4 with some swimming experience before that. I have been coaching for four years in the Junior pool as well as in the Senior pool. I have recently completed and received my certification for Swimming 101. I started the swim team at Archbishop Jordan and swam with them for three years. I am currently a student at the University of Alberta.
