As Head Coach of the University of Toronto
Varsity team, Assistant Coach of the TSC National group and
President of the TSC Board of Directors, Byron MacDonald not only
assists in the training of our elite swimmers, but also shapes the
growth and development of the Club itself.
Byron is a former Olympic finalist in the 100
metre butterfly and has been with U of T since 1978. In this time
Byron has produced over 100 international swimmers and has been the
Head Coach of numerous Canadian teams, taking them to international
competitions. A valued and respected coach and mentor, Byron has
repeatedly been awarded “Coach of the Year” by his
Assistant Coach to the 1992 Canadian Olympic
team, Byron proudly watched as one of his swimmers won a bronze

With more than 30 years in competitive swimming as an elite athlete, coach, student and fan, Jane is thrilled to join the TSC family and we are lucky to have her.
Jane was the Head Age Group Coach of the Lakeshore Swim Club, Chair the Aquatic Council of Ontario member of the Board of Directors of the Ontario Aquatic Hall of Fame. Prior to Lakeshore, Jane coached for several years with the Fredericton Y Aquanauts, University of New Brunswick and University of Toronto, and pursued a career in health care management.
Jane’s swimming successes are impressive! For six years she was a member of Canada’s national team participating in the 1970 Commonwealth Games, 1971 Pan-American (1 gold, 1 silver) and 1972 Olympic Games. She set more than 100 national and provincial records, following which she was inducted into each of the University of Toronto and Etobicoke Sports Hall of Fame and Ontario Aquatic Hall of Fame.
Ashley was a competitive swimmer for 8 years, competing at the Junior National level, before making the transition to coach. Her experience as a swimmer helped shape her coaching skills, as she was both a leader among her peers and a dedicated competitor. Her work with all ages in both the clubs development and competitive programs has made her a highly valued asset to the TSC staff. Ashley creates a positive and energetic environment, which ensures that every swimmer who gets into the water comes out with confidence, determination and pride.
Ashley is a two time recipient of the TSC Presidents Trophy, awarded to swimmers that exemplify all the best qualities of dedication, commitment, perseverance, and social well being.
Ashley holds a degree in Arts and Science from the University of Toronto (2009). She has been coaching with TSC since 2004 and is a currently completing her Level II coaching certification. In addition, Ashley has assisted Swim Ontario and Swimming Canada as a Team Manager at various swim camps and competitions.
Ashley helps run the day to day operations of the Toronto Swim Club as Team Manager and office administrator.
He has been with the Toronto Swim Club since 2000 and has been recognized as one of the premier age-group coaches in the country.
In the past decade he has coached our 11-14 year olds swimmers 12 Ontario and 9 National Age Group records. Having coached many Provincial and National age-group champions, Bob has received several Domestic Coaching awards of excellence for coaching and is a Level II certified coach.
His expertise in teaching techniques to our swimmers, combined with a well balanced coaching philosophy have given Bob a favourable reputation for coaching our athletes to become top swimmers. Bob is committed to the improvement of each and every swimmer.
Prior to coaching with TSC, Bob was a top level National swimmer. In 2000, while studying at U of T, Bob was awarded the University of Toronto Athlete of the Year. In 2001, Bob won 3 World Cup Medals in all three Backstroke events.
He is also a certified as an Elementary School Teacher. Bob is a full-time teacher at Kingsway College School as a Grade 4 Phys Ed, Grade 5 Science and Grade 6 Math teacher.
