Thomas Ponting

Tom swam competitively for 20 years, and has over 20 years coaching experiience.ntered the profession of coaching. Tom hopes to use the knowledge gained during 3 Olympics, 3 World Records, 33 National Titles and 12 years on the National Team to help up and coming talent achieve their goals. Tom is a Level 3 Certified Coach. Working on his Advanced Coaching Diploma.

Edith Rogers

Junior/Para Coach

Edie, an NCCP certified Fundamentals coach, is back to coach our Junior group this year. She will also continue to coach the PARA program. Edie has now coached swimmers competing at national (silver medal at the 2018 nationals) and international meets. Edie believes in setting high goals for her swimmers and then pushing them to achieve those goals. “This can give a huge sense of accomplishment and pride” she says.

Donna will be coaching the Blue 2 Group this year. She has been involved with the Bluephins as a parent of 7 swimmers for over 30 years as well as a coach for 15. In addition, Donna has experience as a Red Cross swimming instructor and she is a certified NCCP Fundamentals coach. Donna focuses on FUN and safe learning of new swim skills.

Viv Nguyen

Blue 1 (Wed/Fri) and TTC (Wed)

Viv is in her 3rd year with the Bluephins. She did one year in Miniphins, one in TTC and now is takingon the task of Blue 1. Viv is taking coaching training for her 101 level. Viv is a fulltime student.

Tracy Stevenson

Blue 1 (Monday)

Tracy swam competitively for over 15 years.  She was a member of the UNB Varsity Reds and the New Brunswick 2001 Canada Games Team.  Soon after she stopped competitive swimming, she transitioned into coaching.  She has over 10 years experience as a Head Coach including the Head Coach of the PEI 2009 Canada Games Team.  In 2011, she stepped away from coaching to spend time with her young family.  She is very excited to be back on the pool deck to assist with Blue 1 this season.  Tracy is a certified Level 3 Swim Coach and a certified Personal Training Specialist.

Emily Swaine

Emily is a former Bluephin and UPEI swimmer, who swam competitively for 13 years. Emily swam for PEI at the 2013 Canada Games in Sherbrooke, Quebec. She has previous coaching experience and is excited to be coaching Orange 3!

Isaac Hendrickson

Orange 3 - Saturday

Isaac is a Grade 12 student who swam competitively for the Bluephins for eleven years. Isaac swam for PEI at the 2017 Canada Summer Games in Winnipeg, Manitoba. In 2016, he held the provincial record for the 50m backstroke. He is a member of the National Lifesaving Society of Canada; has completed Bronze Cross and Bronze Medallion certification; is a surf guard with the PEI provincial parks; and a lifeguard at the Bell Aliant pool.

Julie has been a long-time member of the Bluephins. She is a full-time student and is also currently working on her NCCP level 1 coaching certification. She has worked with the Miniphins for 5 years and is now excited to be coaching Orange 1!

Bill Calhoun

TTC and TTC Advanced (Friday)

William Calhoun rejoins the staff after a three year absence from the team.  William better known as Mr. Bill brings a large amount of experience and knowledge to the staff.  The NCCP Level 3 certified coach is tasked with transitioning swimmers from the Miniphins into the competitive groups in the club.  A strong believer in the development of sound stroke mechanics, turns and starts.  In his free time he likes spending time with his son (who swims on Orange 2) and wife and aslo enjoys playing Magic the Gathering and video games.

Jordyn Bowness

Jordyn is 17 years old and in grade 11 attending Bluefield High school. She swam competitively with the Charlottetown Bluephins for six years. Jordyn attended the 2017 Canada summer Games for swimming in Winnipeg. Jordyn currently has most of her lifeguarding and first aid courses(bronze medallion,bronze cross) with the exception of NLS which She is currently in the process of taking and will complete at the beginning of November.
