Coach Tammy Kudela is a certified Level III coach through USA Swimming and the American Swim Coaches Association. She has coached NAG record holders and multiple top 50 USA age group swimmers. Prior to becoming the Yosemite Marllins Head Coach, she founded and served voluntarily as the head coach of the Mariposa Marlins recreational swim team since 1990. Currently she is also a certified water safety and life guard instructor and she holds a certified pool operator's license. She swam competitively with the Mission Viejo Nadadores under the reign of Mark Schubert as a youngster, then became a varsity swimmer for El Toro High School where she placed as a CIF finalist multiple times and earned an All American title. She has also served as an assisstant coach for the Yosemite High School Swim Team since 2009 and has been an assistant coach and stroke technique specialist for the elite senior group for the Clovis Swim Club.
Swimming is Coach Tammy's passion. She truly loves this sport and tries to foster a coaching environment to help her swimmers develop the same passion for the sport. Her coaching style emphasizes the development of proper stroke mechanics, goal setting, responsible behavior, and strong work ethic in her athletes.
Coach Tammy and her husband, Marty, are UC Davis graduates and have lived in the mountain area since 1987. Coach Tammy majored in Dietetics and had a minor emphasis in Agricultural Sciences. She is a National Board Certified Teacher and currently teaches A.P. Biology and Freshman Biology at Mariposa County High School. They have two sons, Wesley and Phillip. Wesley was a 4 year YHS varsity swimmer who currently holds 5 school records. Phillip, holds 3 YHS records, and currently swims at the NCAA DI level for Western Illinois University.
