Current Certifications: ARC Safety Training for Swim Coaches, First Aid and CPR for the professional rescuer.

Coach Angela is a Junior at Sabino HS, 2019.  She plans to attend the University of Arizona after High School.  This is her 5th season with the Gators.  “I have been on two different swim teams since I was eight and I started competing when I was eleven”.  Angela is a member of the Sabino HS team. She also competed for 2 years with the Tucson Sun Rays Synchronized Swim team.  Angela loves languages and enjoys playing volleyball.  She is fluent in Italian and travels to Italy every other summer to stay with her grandmother and extended family.

Why coach Angela likes working with the Gators:  “I enjoy the atmosphere that comes when I can bring the team together to improve our swimming and have fun!”

Favorite Stroke:  Backstroke – “Backstroke because I like the speed that I reach in this stroke and the overall form of it”.

Rochelle E Olstad

Head Coach 10 & Under, SAAA Gators

Current Certifications: ARC Life Guarding, Safety Training for Swim Coaches, First Aid and CPR for the professional rescuer.

This is Coach Rochelle’s 9th season with the Gators.  Rochelle began swimming at the age of 4 with SAAA, and continued through High School where she participated in both Diving and Swimming at University HS, 2013. Additionally, she was a member of the Prima Vera Dance program, Pom/Flag line and in the Esperanza Dance Company.

Rochelle graduated from the University of Arizona with a Bachelor of Science in Veterinary Sciences in December of 2017.  She spends time volunteering at the Wildlife Center and shadowing veterinarians to prepare for her admission into vet school.  She also enjoys art and playing the piano.

Currently, Rochelle is the Team Director for the Girls competitive gymnastics team at Old Pueblo Gymnastics Academy.  Rochelle’s extensive background in Dance and Gymnastics as well as Swimming, Diving, and Synchronized Swimming, give her many tools to coach our Gator team!

Rochelle says what she likes most about coaching with the Gators is, “I like to teach them how to swim”.

Abigail B Hammons

Coach Abby is a Senior at University High School, 2018.  She plans to attend the University of Arizona in the fall.

I started swimming on the Gators team when I was four years old, and went on to swim year round with Ford Aquatics at the age of twelve. Due to injuries, I had to quit Ford but continued to swim for my high school and summer teams.  Abby has had an excellent swimming career, earning High Point every summer at the SAAA championships and qualifying individually all four seasons in AZ High School Division I with University HS. She plans to continue swimming with the intermural program in college.  Abby is also a member of the Track and Field Team at UHS.

What she enjoys most about coaching the Gators: “I enjoy coaching because I love being able to help swimmers improve and see their progression throughout the season”.

Abby’s favorite stroke- Butterfly- “Butterfly is my favorite stroke because I feel powerful when I pull through the water and dolphin kicks are my strongest kick”.

This is Coach Abby’s first season with the Gators.  Abby began swimming in 1st grade.  She is now a Junior at Salpointe Catholic HS where she is a member of the Lancer Lady’s swim team. She also works at the Salpointe athletic treatment center where she helps the soccer team.  Abby plans to study Physical Therapy in college.

Abby says she enjoys coaching because “I like to see kids enjoy the water and see what they can do in it”.  Her favorite stroke is backstroke.  “I like backstroke because you can look up at the sky and see all of the clouds”.
