The MACS coaching staff features highly
trained professionals who love the sport of swimming. These
certified and award-winning coaches are dedicated to ensuring that
all MACS swimmers receive the instruction and coaching that will
enable them to reach their potential as competitive
swimmers. MACS coaches are certified by the American Swimming Coaches
Association (ASCA), which places them among the top 15% of
swim coaches in the United States.

Andy Niemann joined
MACS in 1994 as head age group coach, and was named head coach in
1995. He is responsible for the overall direction of the MACS
program and coaches the MACS sectional and senior groups.
Andy is certified as a level 5 coach by the American Swimming Coaches
Association, which places him among the top 2 to 5% of swim
coaches in the United States.
He has coached
Colorado Age Group State Champions, Western Zone Champions, Junior
and Senior National finalists, 2 United States National Junior Team
member, a United States National Team member and 7 Olympic Trial
qualifiers. Andy has also coached many state record holders, two
national champions, and one national record holder and several
Sectional champions and record holders. Most recently, he coached
18-year-old Bonnie Brandon to her 4th and 5th place finishes
at the U.S. Olympic Trials. He had two swimmers participate at the
2012 Trials swimming 7 events. He was named Coach of the Year by
his peers in 2002, 2008, and most recently in 2011.
Andy graduated from
the University of Missouri where he received his degree in
secondary education and was a scholarship athlete. Niemann has been
actively involved as a volunteer on the Colorado Swimming Board of
Directors for the past 15 years and is currently Colorado's Senior
Swimming Chair and a member of the board of review. He also has
been invited to work with swimmers at the U.S. Olympic Training
Center in Colorado Springs.
Andy and Catherine
have a 4 year old daughter Eve.
Catherine joined MACS as the head age
group coach in 1998. She coaches the group 3 and 4
swimmers. She has been coaching in Colorado since 1994, and
was with the North Jeffco Swim Team prior to joining MACS.
She is a certified level 3 coach by the American Swimming
During her career,
Catherine has coached and help to develop the potential of hundreds
of age group swimmers. She has coached many state champions
and state record holders as well as Zone champions and finalists.
She has had over 50 of her athlete's swims make the USA
Swimming National Top 16 and Top 10 lists. She was chosen by
her peers as Colorado Age Group Coach of the Year in 2000 and
2002. In 2003, she was awarded the USA Swimming Outstanding
volunteered extensively for Colorado Swimming including the Age
Group Chair Position for one year and coaching over 10 All-Star
trips and many zone trips for Colorado's swimmers.
from St. Bonaventure University in 1992 with a bachelor’s
degree in English and philosophy. She was a scholarship
member of Bonaventure’s Division 1 team.
Andy and Catherine
have a 4 year old daughter Eve.
Zgliczynski coaches MACS group 2 swimmers. He was born in
Elblag, Poland, and was a member of the Polish National Team for
Pentathlon and Triathlon until the 1990s. After coming to the
U.S., he began racing as a professional triathlete. Grzegorz has
had numerous high-end achievements throughout his career, including
winning his age group at Ironman Hawaii. Grzegorz enjoys giving
back to the sport through coaching, and has worked with age group
world champions, as well as taking beginners to high-end
Grzegorz has a
degree in human sport performance and physical education. He
is an age group competitive swim coach with ASCA level
3 credentials, and is a certified USA cycling coach as well.
He has USAT coaching certification. He coached with the
Greenwood Village Tigersharks (GTS) for seven years and has been
coaching for MACS since 2006.
Gregorz's daughter and
son both swam for MACS and currently swim on scholarship in college
at Cornell and DU respectively.
Andy Levine coaches the Senior 3
and Senior 5 groups. Andy is a middle school English teacher and
the head coach of the Legend High School girls' team. He has
also coached for the Colorado Athletic Club (CAC) and for the Swim
Dogs. Andy is a former swimmer and has competed in Iron Man
triathlons. He has a strong passion for the sport and is
enthusiastic and encouraging with the swimmers.
Laura Kinney coaches the Mini
MACS and Group 1 swimmers. Laura swam with MACS from age 10 through
her high school graduation and is now in grad school studying
physical therapy. Laura swam in College on scholarship for FAU and
then went on to finish a degree at CO School of Mines on an
academic scholarship. She is very familiar with the MACS
swimming program and has also coached with Swim America and Summer
Club as well as taught younger swimmers at Safe Splash in Parker.
Laura has extensive stroke knowledge and is a great fit for our
youngest swimmers (and the kids just love her)!
