Ryan H Loechner
Head Coach / Senior Head Coach
brings to Weston Swimming an ever-present positive energy and
innate ability to encourage and motivate our swimmers. Ryan started
his swimming career as a swimmer with Weston Swimming. While
swimming with the Weston High School Boys Swim Team, he was chosen
as captain of the team in his senior year and qualified for States
for his 500 yard freestyle. He then went on to swim on the varsity
team at a NCAA Division III school, serving as captain in his

Head Age Group Coach
Coach John gew up just over the border in Lewisboro,New York
Swimming at John Jay High school and USS for the New Canaan YMCA
and Boys & Girls club of Mnt. Kisco Marlins. John attended
Principia College in Elsah, IL swimming for their D3 NCAA program
as a Freshman and Sophmore. In 2005 John moved to Sacramento CA for
four years where he was the Head Coach for a 200 swimmer Rec level
team that also participated Unnattached in the local USA LSC.
Shortly after getting married in 2008 John returned home to the
East Coast for a brief stint coaching the Senior program for Weston
Swimming. In 2009 John took over as Asst. Age Group coach &
Head 8 & Under Coach at the Westport YMCA. After two and a half
fantastic years at the Westport YMCA John returned to Weston
Swimming to take over as Head Age Group Coach.
Starting in 2012 John also joined the coaching staff for the CT
Zone Team participating for the past 5 seasons (10trips) and as
Head Coach for 5 trips. Coach John now sits on the CTSwim Board of
Directors as the CT Zone Coordinator. John is also an assistant
swim coach at the Newfield Swim & Tennis Club in Stamford and
just enjoyed his 25 consecutive year of summer swimming as a
swimmer or coach starting at the age of 9.
John and his Wife Denise live in Milford with their cats Jonah
Senior Assistant Coach
Chris has coached swimming since 1973. He formed the Weston Swim Club and also coached both the boy and girl swim teams at Weston High School. During his tenure at Weston, Chris's teams captured 11 Boys State Championships and 7 Girls State Championships. He was named National High School Coach of the Year in 1986 and 1991. Chris was also Connecticut High School Coach of the Year in 1985, 1987, 1992 and 1996.
For the past 11 years, Chris has coached both age group and senior swimmers at the New Canaan YMCA. His age group teams have consistently placed in the top 10 at Connecticut Age Groups and were New England YMCA champions. He has coached numerous All State, All American, Junior Olympic, Senior National and Olympic Trial Qualifiers both at Weston and New Canaan.
Chris also spent one year (1989) as the top assistant to Ernie Maglischo at Cal State Bakersfield. Coach Maglischo is known to be the top stroke technique coach in the world. Cal State Bakersfield won the NCAA National Championship that year.
