Julie K Madison

Assistant Gold Team Coach

Julie has been swimming her entire life - beginning at 9 months in the baby classes, and she feels most at home in or around the water. When she was on swim team, she loved to practice, and was always the first one in the water. She swam USA and High School,  where her favorite events were the 50, 100, 200, and 500 free, as well as the 100 and 200 backstroke, making states in the 500 free. Julie took a break for college but came back to the sport with a fierce vengeance in her early 20’s, tackling open water swimming races and milestones. Her open water accomplishments include: 10k Barbados (Multiple Swims), 10 Mile Open water national championship Vermont (2014), 8 Mile Alligator Lighthouse Islamorada, Fl (2015, Age Group Winner, top 4 Overall Female); 10K Little Red Lighthouse Hudson River (Age Group Winner), 10K Swim Miami (Top 3 Overall Female, Age Group Winner 2016), along with numerous open water solo swims. Julie has been coaching swimming for 5 years now and loves sharing her knowledge and experience to transform seasoned and novice swimmers.

Nichol Sherry

Assistant Bronze Coach

Email

This is Nichol's 6th season with the sharks.

Nichol coaches our Bronze and Silver swimmers.

In Nichol's 1st season with the sharks she held shape and develop many of our future superstar swimmers.  Her enthusiasm and love for the sport and development of each swimmer has help build one of the best 8/under programs in the state. In her second season she built on the 1st year and over saw one of the best 8/under programs in the state. Since then the team has had multiple 8/under champions.  She excited about her new challenge to coach the younger 9 & 10 year olds.
Nichol grew up in Maine and the swim team was her first introduction to sports as well as her first love.  There was no place She would rather have been than the pool.  Fun and friends were the primary motivators and then came the joy of best times and improvement.  Nichol swam from age 8 through freshman year of high school at which time She decided to pursue running on a year round basis.  Nichol had a state record in the 50 back as a 10 year old and several freestyle relay records.  She competed at the university of maine on a track and field/cross country scholarship for all four years.  Nichol got back in the pool a few years ago with the though that She might give triathlons a try, but right now her focus is on improving her marathon time.  Nichol lives in West Hartford with her husband Ted and 5 children which includes 2 sets of twins!  "I'm very much looking forward to working with the swim team kids and hope that I can make it as fun as my coaches did for me!" Coach Nichol
