Peter C Wright

Head Coach


Coach Pete begins his 6th year as Head Coach and leader of FCST. In Pete's first five years leading FCST, the club continues to grow in an upward and positive direction.  Coach Pete’s swimmers won back to back Southern Senior Zones Women's titles in 2017 and 2018.  In addition, the program won the 2015 NASA Junior National meet, while producing 2 new Olympic Trials qualifiers, 3 US Open Qualifiers, and multiple Winter and Summer Junior National Qualifiers.  FCST also won USA Swimming Silver Medal Status in 2015 and 2016.  In addition to the team’s Senior swimming success, Coach Pete created the new FCST Swim League to bridge Learn to Swim to the competitive team. Coach Pete is an ASCA Level 5 certified coach and has served on the GULF Swimming Board of Directors as an At-Large Board member.

Coach Pete comes to FCST having been the head coach of the Y-Spartaquatics Swim Club in Spartanburg, SC for 12 years. During his time at YSSC, the club grew from 85 to over 450 swimmers, grew from 4 to 12 different practice groups, added a satellite location, and grew to 5 full-time and 12 part-time staff. Coach Pete was also very involved in swimming administration and governance, serving as technical planning chair and senior vice-chair for South Carolina Swimming.

Prior to his time at YSSC, Coach Pete was a pre-senior and senior assistant coach for Mecklenburg Aquatic Club in Charlotte, NC. He coached 25 Junior National qualifiers, and was part of the 1999 Long Course Junior National Champion Women's team. Pete has also held coaching positions with the Ridgewood YMCA and Ridgewood High School swim teams.

Coach Pete earned a Bachelor of Arts double degree in Biology and History from Oberlin College, and was a 4-year member of the varsity swim team, serving as Team Captain for both his Junior and Senior years.  Coach Pete is originally from Overland Park, KS, but was raised in Westfield, NJ where he competed for the Westfield YMCA and the Westfield HS.

Coach Pete is married to the lovely Meghan Wright and is the proud father of 10 year old FCST Swimmer Scarlet Wright.  He is the faithful leader of his dog Ace. Coach Pete is a devout Kansas City Chiefs and Royals fan and loves to collect live music.

Ben Pulskamp

Head Age Group Coach


Coach Ben is starting 2018 - 2019 as his forth year with FCST.  In Ben’s first three years with FCST the Age Group Program has continued to grow and compete at a high level.  FCST has produced multiple National Top 10 athletes as well as swimmers achieving a number of Team Records and State Champions over the course of the past two years.  Coach Ben is an ASCA Level 3 certified coach that is very excited to lead the Pre-Senior 3 group once again this coming year.

Ben comes to us from Spartanburg, SC where he was the Senior Coach for the Y-Spartaquatics  Swim Club.   Ben grew up in Spartanburg, SC where he swam for Y-Spartaquatics for 13 years before attending the University of North Carolina at Wilmington.  Ben was a four year scholarship swimmer for the Seahawks at UNC-Wilmington where the team won four CAA Conference Championships.  While swimming at UNCW he was awarded the Most Outstanding Swimmer Award his sophomore year and was named team captain his senior year. 

Ben took over the top Pre-Senior group and the Senior 2 group at Y-Spartaquatics in 2013. During his time there he has coached multiple State Champions, Sectional Champions, Y-National Qualifiers/Finalists, Junior National Qualifiers and Nationally Ranked Top 10 Athletes.  He has also been part of the coaching staff that has lead the team to multiple Overall and Women’s Long Course Y-National Championships, the team’s first Short Course Y-National Championship as well as numerous State Championships.  Ben was also selected to the 2015 Southern Zone Select Camp Staff where he got to work with some of the Top 13-14 year olds in the country.

Before becoming part of the Y-Spartaquatics coaching staff Ben was in Charleston, SC with the Southern Marlins Racing Team.  From the time that he started in August 2009 he worked his way up from being the Gold Group coach to the Head Age group Coach.  Ben produced multiple Age Group Sectional Qualifiers/Finalists as well as State Champions and athletes that achieved Top 16 times. 

Ben is extremely excited to come to First Colony to continue a tradition of excellence.  He is very eager to apply his experiences and learn from the First Colony coaching staff to make the team its absolute best.

Dana Skelton

Head Developmental Coach


Coach Dana will be entering her 13th season with First Colony Swim Team.  She is the lead coach for the First Colony area Age Group 1 and the Head Developmental Coach.  Dana is an ASCA Level 3 certified coach, has served as the FCST rep for Gulf Masters, served on the Southern Zone Select Camp coaching staff, served on the Meet Task Force for Gulf Swimming, currently serving as Committee Chair for the Texas Select Camp, and served on the coaching staff for 2 Texas All Star Camp coaching staffs.  Dana has lead athletes to Gulf Champs, TAGS, Sectionals, and Junior National cuts. These accomplishments have also lead to multiple TAGS event winners.
Dana was on the coaching staff for the East Bay Bat Rays in Hayward, California.  Working with the Bat Rays was her introduction in to USA Swimming and kick-started her love of coaching, working with young swimmers, and learning what it means to be a great coach.  She has a Bachelors and Masters degree in Kinesiology from California State University, East Bay. Dana enjoys spending time with her husband and 3 daughters.  Hobbies include working out, being crafty/creative, and education to continue improving herself.

Markell Lyng

Strength & Conditioning Coach


Coach Markell has been coaching for FCST since 2001.  In this time, she has coached all groups from Novice to Masters, and has been helping oversee FCST dryland since 2006.  In 2014 she became FCST's full-time Dryland Director.  She serves as the Strength and Conditioning Coach for Developmental, Age Group and Senior swimmers. Markell also teaches group fitness classes is the owner of Markell, L.L.C., a Swim Performance company focusing on the individual dryland needs of swimmers of all ages and abilities.

Markell obtained a BS in Kinesiology and a BS in Business Management from Houston Baptist University and she is also a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist through the National Strength and Conditioning Association. She has completed two, forty week fellowships with the Gray Institute for Functional Transformation obtaining FAFS (Fellow of Applied Functional Science) and FMR (Functional Manual Reaction) PCM (PlayCoachMate) designations. She is also certified in 3DMAPS and CAFS and was a Facilitator for the 2016, 2017, and 2019 GIFT classes. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family. Markell is also passionate about her own health and fitness and swims and runs regularly, has completed 4 Ironman Triathlons in addition to many other triathlon and running races.

Jill Quinn

Head Masters Coach


Coach Bonnie returns for her second season as a coach, having joined FCST as swim mom in 2006, a masters swimmer in 2014, a masters coach in the summer of 2016, and as a developmental coach in the fall of 2016.  She is a USMS Level 2 certified coach and is also starting her 6 th year of coaching high school and middle school teams for Logos Preparatory Academy.

In addition to coaching, Bonnie has served on FCST’s Board of Directors.  She is a USA swimming certified official having completed both LSC and national certification as a stroke and turn official, chief judge, and starter and LSC certification as a deck referee.  Bonnie is currently working to complete LSC certification as a meet referee. Bonnie is married with two daughters who both swam with FCST.  She loves the sport of swimming and loves making it available and accessible to people of every age.

Amanda Renea Norris

Lead New Territory Site


Coach Mandy Norris is excited to begin her fifth year with FCST. Coach Mandy brings valuable experience in coaching the elite, age-group, and developmental athletes. Over the past seven years, she has served as our FCST New Territory Site Lead, the Head Age Group Coach for West Houston Aquatic Team, and as an assistant coach for Katy Aquatics.

Mandy is quite experienced in on-deck coaching, as well as team management. She has successfully led training sites & season planning for multiple training groups, coordinated team tryouts and registration, and managed team travel. Mandy is also very involved in our LSC. She currently serves on the Gulf Swimming Board of Directors as Camp Coordinator, is a Gulf Swimming certified meet director, and was a Gulf Age Group Zone Coach in 2013.

Coach Mandy earned her bachelor’s degree in business administration with a management concentration from Texas A&M University. She is an American Swim Coaches Association (ASCA) Level II certified coach and has studied Level III coursework.

Mandy has been married to her supportive husband, Lance, since 2011. They welcomed their second bundle of joy in April 2018. She lives in Katy with her beautiful family and their Australian Shepherd, Molly.

Coach Mandy will be leading our New Territory site, and coaching Blue 1, Red A, and White B there this season.

Trenton Thome

Lead Seven Meadow Site & Blue, AG1, & 2


Coach Trenton Thome is currently in his fourth year with FCST coaching at the Age Group & Developmental level. Before FCST, Coach Trenton was with Katy Aquatics for one season, and also five seasons with Greatwood Gators summer league as the Head Coach amassing a 32-4 record in both SHRSL & WHALe. In four total seasons at the club level of USA Swimming, Coach Trenton has coached a TAGS qualifying swimmer each season. His philosophy on deck is to establish an environment that promotes positive team attitudes and encourages self-discipline, sportsmanship and responsibility by being a positive role model for  
the athletes by instilling confidence, building up a winning work ethic, and providing motivation through sport.

Coach Trenton obtained his bachelor’s degree in Sports Administration, with a minor in Business Administration from the University of Houston in Spring 2014. He is an American Swim Coaches Association(ASCA) Level II certified coach.

Coach Trenton is originally from Ohio, however, moved down to Houston, TX at a young age and found a love for the sport of swimming at the age of 7, swimming for both Greatwood Gators summer league and also Lamar Consolidated High School. He will be marrying his fiance, Lauren, in January 2019. He enjoys working out at the gym in his free time, watching endless hours of college football(favorite team: Ohio State) and being around his 2-year old black lab, Cooper.

Coach Trenton will be the site director for Seven Meadows as well as leading Blue 1, Blue 2, Age Group 1 & Age Group 2. He also has the role of Volunteer Coordinator with FCST for both Hosted and Away meets.

Lesley Rienstra

Lead 7M Coach PS2, PS3, Senior 2


Coach Lesley has over 15 years of coaching experience with all levels of swimming. This is Coach Lesley's 9th year with FCST. Coach Lesley is the Head Coach for Spring Woods High School as well as of the First Colony Gold Summer League team  in the summer. Coach Lesley is married with 2 sons. She was a former National and Olympic Swimmer for the British team

Adrian Gomez

Lead FC Blue 1 B and AG 3


Coach Adrian is embarking on his third year at FCST and his sixth year coaching. He is excited to be the lead coach for First Colony Blue 1 B and Age Group 3. Adrian has lead swimmers to LSC championship meets, TAGS, Sectionals, Southern Senior Zones, Futures, and Junior Nationals. Adrian enjoys the process and journey of guiding student-athletes to their stated goals through continuously improving and learning form experiences. 

Adrian received his Bachelors of Arts from Southwestern University in 2014. Where he swam collegiately four years and was elected team captain his junior and senior year. While not thinking of swimming he enjoys getting better at cooking, learning new life skills, and enjoying the Texas sun. An avid fan of the San Antonio Spurs and the Dallas Cowboys. 

Jill Quinn

Lead FC Blue 1 A


Coach Jill is beginning her 6th year with FCST. She is the lead Blue 1A FC coach, Swim League Coordinator, Learn to Swim Director and Saturday morning Master’s coach. Jill is an ASCA Level 2 certified coach, a US Masters Level 2 coach and holds the USMS Adult Learn to Swim Instructor Certification. Coach Jill has a strong passion for the developing swimmers. 
Having swum most of her life, Coach Jill has had many opportunities to coach, teach and interact with swimmers of all ages and abilities from swim lessons to Master’s Swimming. Coach Jill has a Bachelor’s Degree from California State University Long Beach in Child Development and Family Studies. She has taught preschool through 4th grade.
Coach Jill lives in Sugar Land with her husband, Marc and their three kids Brandon, Nathan and Caitlyn. In her spare time she enjoys swimming with the FCST Masters, cooking and spending time with her family.

Hillary Martinez

Lead FC Blue 2


Coach Hillary Martinez will be leading FC Blue 2 for the short course season, as well as the team’s registrar this year. She is a level 2 ASCA coach. She has coached for 12 years with FCST where she was the Developmental Lead Coach for four years. Prior to FCST she was with a local Gulf swim club where she ran their Developmental Program.  She started her coaching career with Southwest Houston Recreational League; she coached for the Glenshire Gators for 12 years and was instrumental in starting the Sienna Sharks, where she coached for 3 years. Hillary brings to the pool deck her love for working with children, building their minds, self-confidence and physical being.

Hillary has been married to her husband Tony of 30 years, has four grown children and 6 grandchildren.

Karim Harris

Lead FC White & Red


Coach Karim will be returning for his second season with FCST. Originally from Montgomery New York, Karim has been living in Texas for 2 years while as the Head Age Group Coach at SPA. Before that he worked for four years at the Long Island Aquatic Club where he was an assistant coach to various different groups including working with nationally ranked and NAG record swimmers.
Karim graduated in 2013 with a bachelor degree in both exercise science and sports management. While attending the university he competed for the swim team making conference finals all three years. Karim is also a former high school captain and record holder in swimming and track and field.
Swimming is Karim’s passion and he has been a swimmer since he was a small child. When he is not home spending time with his two dogs, he can be found outside running, playing volleyball and spending time with family. 

Justin Mouton

Lead White, Red, Blue 2, New Territory


Coach Justin is starting his fifth season with FCST and first as the lead coach for FCST White, Red, and Blue 2 in New Territory. Justin has a bachelor's in Computer Science from Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas. 

Before coming to FCST, Justin was an assistant coach for the Beaumont Area Swim Team (BAST) for 7 years, and has several years experience in teaching lessons. Justin also competed for BAST for 8 years and with Clifton J. Ozen High School for 4 years. Justin is a Sugar Land resident and native and enjoys reading, singing, parkour, video games, and swimming in his spare time.

Melissa Hepler

Assistant Coach


Coach Melissa begins 2016-17 as her first season with FCST, and her first season coaching USA Swimming. She will be working with many of our age-group and developmental groups in an assistant role.

Melissa has served as a coach for the Falcon Point Swim Team for 2 summers and has competitive experience at the NCAA Division 1 level, having competed for Eastern Illinois University. In high school, Coach Melissa earned Academic All-American honors, TISCA honorable mention, and was a member of National Honor Society.  Melissa is currently working on her bachelor’s degree in exercise science & nutrition at the University of Houston.

Susan Monteagudo

Assistant Coach


Coach Susan has been with FCST since the Spring of 2015. During the Short Course season she is assistant coach at the New Territory location for White, Red and Blue 2 groups and lead instructor for Swim League 1 and 2. During Spring and Summer she goes to the First Colony area to work with all Swim League groups 1, 2 and 3. In the summer of 2015 she was part of FCST 10 week Learn to Swim Program.

Coach Susan is ASCA (American Swim Coaches Association) Level II certified. She has a Bachelors degree in Architecture and was a competitive swimmer for 12 years in her native country of El Salvador. Before getting married she worked as a flight attendant for an international airline. She came to USA in 2005 and after joining FCST Masters competed with them in several open water races and in two USMS National Championships.

Coach Susan has been married for over 20 years and has 3 boys. Her oldest son Fernando is studying Physics at the University of Texas at Austin, her middle son Carlos was part of FCST Senior Elite group and is now studying Chemistry and swimming for Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia and her youngest son Gabriel goes to Travis High School.

Myka Cupp-Vasquez

Assistant Coach


Coach Myka began coaching during the 2016-2017 season and this is her second year with FCST. She is very excited to be the assistant coach for Coach Dana and Coach Andre working with AG1 and PS2.


Coach Myka was a swimmer when she was younger and continued swimming through high school, where she swam for 4 years and became swim captain in her senior year. Coach Myka received an Associates of Arts in Business Administration in 2016 and is currently enrolled at the University of Houston, where she is completing a Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resource Development and a Minor in Accounting. Upon graduation, she hopes to further her education by completing a Masters in Accounting. After that, she will work towards receiving her CPA license. 

Miaeda Hutchinson

Assistant Coach


Miaeda is in her second season of coaching with FCST. She will be FCST assistant sub for this season.  So far, she has worked with Age Groups 1, 2 and 3, Junior 2, Presenior 1 and 2, non-competitve groups and Masters, with which she also swims. Miaeda swam for 5 years in the Bahamas before moving to Sugar Land, where she swam for Clements High School. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, traveling and spending time with friends. 

Daniel Graviss

Assistant w/ AG1 & PS2


Coach Daniel has served on First Colony’s Swim Team’s staff since August 2017. He primarily assists AG 1 and PS 2 where he brings energy and a motivational mindset for high performance to all the athletes he coaches.Representing FCST since 2002 he has had extensive experience and opportunities in the sport of swimming. These opportunities include being on the US Junior National Team, US National Finalist, NCAA All-American, as well as being an Olympic Trials qualifier in 2012 and 2016.
During college he swam for the University of Missouri from 2012 to 2016, a top 10 program at the time, and earned his bachelor's in business administration. This dedicated team is also where he found his love to give back to the youth in the sport, now devoted to passing on everything he learned. In his “off-time” Coach Daniel manages, cleans and repairs pools for his company AquaLand Management, LLC.
