The Magnolia Aquatic Club Staff would like to welcome you to be a part of our team.  We are dedicated in providing a quality aquatics program that meets the needs of athletes at every level.  Here at MAC you are more than just a number.  Each child is a valued and important member of our team.  Come find out what we are all about.  Below is some general information about our coaching staff. 

Coaching Staff

Terry G Jones

Head Coach


Coach Jones started the MAC program in 2003 with less than 20 swimmers and has seen the program grow in number and success over the last 16 years.  Coach Jones has served as a USAS Head Coach for 32 years with swimmers competing at every level including finalist at the Olympic Trials and former MAC swimmer who went on to college and participated in the Olympic Games. 

Some of the most recent accomplishments include current USA Swimming National Team Coaches list, 1 swimmers on the USA Swimming 2017-2018 National Team and 1 swimmer on the 2017-2018 National Junior Team, 2 swimmers on the USAS National Junior Team for 2016-2017 and 1 swimmer on the USAS National Junior Team for 2015-2016.  Swimmers on the 18&U World 100 Top Times List and 2017 World Trails Finalist and 18& Under National Champion. 

In 2016 MAC swam to a Women's 3rd place finish at the Speedo Summer Junior Nationals,  2017 Winter Junior Nationals West Women's Team Runner Up, 2017 Summer Junior Nationals Women's Team Runner Up and 3rd Place Combined Team finish.  MAC achieved a National Age Group Record in the Women's 15-18 800 Free Relay in 2017, has had Multiple Junior National Champions and Finalist and numerous National Age Group Top 10 Rankings. 

MAC has been a Bronze Medal Club in 2012 and a Silver Medal Club in 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017 and was awarded the prestigious Gold Medal Club status in 2018.  Coach Jones has served on USA Swimming Staff for the 2016 Junior Pan Pacs and was named the Head Coach for the National Select Camp for the Men in 2017 at the Olympic Training Center. 

Coach Jones is married to his wife Leslie who works for the Goddard School and has two children Whitney and Zach and a grandson Gavin.  Coach Jones attends the Stonebridge Church in The Woodlands and his faith in God is an important part of his life.   

Michael Nordmann

Head Age Group Coach


Coach Nordmann is a Missouri native that comes to Magnolia with over 20 years of coaching experience.  He spent 7 years with The Woodlands Swim Team before moving to the Cypress Fairbanks Swim Club in route to MAC.  Michael swam club in St. Louis with the Sugar Creek Swim Club, CSP Tideriders & Rockwood Swim Club.  He was a Senior National qualifier at the University of Utah where he was an All-Conference athlete.

Michael is active in Gulf Swimming, serving the LSC as the Coaches Representative on the Board of Directors and is its current Records Coordinator.  Nordmann has also coached at the annual Gold Medal Clinic, Catch-the Spirit Clinics, North American Challenge Cup and Southern Zone Age Group Championships.

Coach Nordmann is married to Amy Sullivan Nordmann (who is a 3-time NCAA National Champion in volleyball) a physician, specializing in the early detection of breast cancer. Michael and Amy have 4 daughters Lucie, Lillie, Mary and Zoe, all whom currently swim for MAC.  When not swimming, Michael enjoys listening to music, watching movies and hanging out with his dogs, Phoebe and Louie.

Richard Mills

Jr. Pre-National & Gold Coach


Coach Rick Mills, commonly referred to as Coach Rick, has been with MAC for nearly a decade and is one of our most beloved and respected coaches we have on our staff.  Coach Rick has an extensive swimming background in the Houston area and has served as a Teacher, Head High School Coach and Head Club Coach over the years.  Coach Rick has coached kids to every level in swimming you could, including the Olympic Trials.  Rick's greatest attribute is that he is excited to help kids grow and improve as a swimmer regardless of their swimming level.  Coach Rick currenly coaches our Junior Pre-National Team (JPN) and also assist with our Gold Team.  Coach Rick's roots began in Indiana and he now resides in the Lake Conroe area with his wife Martha.  Rick has a son and nearly 2 year old grandson who he enjoys spending time with.  His other hobbies include fishing and working on building projects.    

Jared Kaminski

Senior & Silver Team Coach


Coach Jared is on the coaching staff for Senior 1 and Bronze. For the 2017-18 season, he is also serving as one of USA Swimming's National Junior Team coaches. In the summer of 2017, Jared relocated to Magnolia from McAllen, TX., where he taught high school physics and was the Head Swimming & Diving Coach at McAllen High School. He now holds the same positions at Magnolia High School.
While in McAllen, Coach Jared led his team to a 14th place finish (out of 50 schools) at the 2017 Texas 6A High School State Championship. In addition to the team’s success, Coach Jared coached an athlete, who had no club team to train with in McAllen, to multiple ‘A’ finals at the 2016 Winter Junior Nationals, the runner-up spot twice at the 2017 Texas 6A High School State Championship, and a 2017 Junior National title.
Coach Jared, who grew up in the local area and competed for The Woodlands High School, is married with three children. His wife also teaches at Magnolia High School, and one of his children swims for MAC.

Katie A Callan-Wehrle

Jr. Pre-National Coach


Katie comes to MAC from Crimson Aquatics in Boston where she was a head site coach and worked with all groups of swimmers. While in Boston she had the unique opportunity to coach paralympic athletes and spent time working with Team USA at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado. 

Katie has been coaching for over 18 years beginning in Michigan (later in Oklahoma and Boston), where she has served as the head coach of club, high school and summer teams. In addition to paralympic athletes, she also spent time coaching in the deaf community.  

She has coached all levels of swimmers  from beginning level to national level qualifiers and junior national champions. Katie has two bachelors degrees and taught for 10 years at Mercy High School, a prestigious college prep school for young women, in Michigan. 


Megan M Haskins

Piranha and Bronze Team Coach


Megan is a 2017 graduate from Magnolia High School and is currently attending college at Lone Star to achieve a nursing degree.  Megan has been a member of MAC and swam for Magnolia High School.  She taught swimming lessons for MAC for several years and became the instructor of choice among many of our families.  Megan has a great demenor with young children and does a great job working on developing their talents.  Megan currently coaches our Piranha and Bronze Team swimmers.
