HEAD COACH: PAT GREEN
Husband, father (two amazing kids), athlete, and coach. As an athlete Coach Pat was a Multisport athlete focusing on Triathlon and Cycling, competing on the national level starting at age 14 with more than six years of National and International racing experience. He was blessed with dedicated parents and coaches that put him in the position to race for Team USA. As a coach he believes in hard work, dedication, belief in the "program", and being coachable. His coaching style was learned from his time as a resident athlete at the Olympic Training Center and he tries to emulate all the high level coaches he has had the opportunity to interact with. Coach Pat believes in a strong understanding of the scientific knowledge of human performance then artistically applying that knowledge to each individual athlete. He looks forward to working WITH you to help your children meet or exceed their goals.
COACH KAREN NELSON:
Coach Karen's love for swimming started at 6 when she began club swimming. Following an injury that ended her swim career, she explored other roles around the pool. She has since coached for summer league and masters level programs as well as for Special Olympics. While living overseas in Samoa, She helped develop a national swimming program and organized the hosting of multinational swimming events for the Oceania region. Karen holds a doctorate in Psychology and has enjoyed using her phychology background in sport across the span of her career. She has worked closely with NCAA athletes while working at University of Houston, and later with elite international teams and athletes while living abroad.
COACH KELLY MILLER:
Coach Kelly started swimming competitively at the age of six and since then, swimming has been a huge part of her life. She Qualified for TAGS throughout middle school and high school with her club team and was on the Varsity swim team at Marcus High School in Flower Mound, TX, qualifying for State every year. She received a scholarship to swim for Ouachita Baptist University, where she qualified for Nationals and was an All-American. During college she taught swim lessons and coached summer league programs. In 2012, she was elected as a board member and treasurer of Longview Swim Club and filled that position until she moved to Montgomery in 2014. Kelly is married to Ray and they have two children, Kaelynn and Brayden, who are members of MARC. A couple years ago she picked up swimming again when she joined Montgomery Masters. She enjoys working with children and seeing their excitement when they succeed.
COACH AMY WELLS:
Amy has been involved in swimming since she was in high school in Omaha, NE. She was a state champion swimmer and after high school swam for Masters swim teams in Kansas, Nebraska, Illinois, and Texas. Amy has been active in the fitness industry since 2011. She started by teaching water aerobics and swim lessons at the local YMCA in Conroe, TX. Amy was an Assistant Coach for a summer swim league team for 2 years. Her certifications include Aerobics and Fitness Association of America (AFAA) Group Exercise Instructor, United States Water Fitness Instructor, united States Masters Swim Coach Levels 1 & 2, Tabata Bootcamp, and Yoga in the Fitness Environment. Amy as completed multiple marathons, 50k's, a 50-mile trail run, Ironman, open water swims and enjoys mountain biking and hiking. Amy is married to Bill and they have 3 children, a son who plays baseball and 2 daughters who swim. Fitness is something Amy is passionate about and loves making it fun and challenging for others.
COACH KYLE REMICK:
Coach Kyle has been swimming all of his life and as a part of MARC for approximately 6 years. Kyle has also taught lessons for the MARC Learn to Swim Program and has taught many of the swimmers currently on the team. In additio to his work with MARC, Kyle has taught lessons and helped coach swimmers at the Walden neighborhood pool. Kyle had great experiences as a swimmer and enjoys sharing his expertise and joy of swimming with other swimmers while on deck as a coach. At home, Kyle enjoys spending time with family and friends.
COACH MATTHEW JOHNSON:
I am a Strength and Conditioning Coach based in North Houston. I competitively swam from 6th grade all the way through high school at Cy-Falls. In high school, I began to focus more on Water Polo which I played in college at Penn State Behrend where I became an NCAA All-American my senior year. I have been training athletes with strength and conditioning for 6 years now as well as becoming a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist, Certified Physical Preparatory Specialist, Functional Range Conditioning mobility specialist, and a MovNat Certified Trainer. I have coached athletes ranging from as young as 6 years old all the way through semi-professional athletes including a member of the Dutch National Water Polo Team and have trained athletes from a range of sports such as Swimming, Water Polo, Rowing, MMA, Football, Lacrosse, and many more. I recently started working in the North Houston community with the North Houston Storm Water Polo team, and my goal is to help all of the North Houston Aquatics community reach their potential in terms of injury prevention, strength, mobility, power, and endurance.
