Bonnie Washburn - Head Coach (Gold & Senior Groups)
Bonnie was born in Lakenheath England. Her family then moved to Las Vegas Nevada where she would begin her swimming career. She swam for the Las Vegas Gold Swim Club coached by Olympic Hall of Fame member, three-time Olympic gold medalist, and a member of the International Swimming Hall of Fame, Rowdy Gaines as well as David Marsh who is the 2016 U.S. Women’s National Team coach and is currently training swimmers Ryan Lochte and Katie Ledecky. In 1991 Bonnie moved with her family to Coeur d’Alene, ID. She joined the Coeur d’Alene Area Swim Team, better known as C.A.S.T., and also swam for Coeur d’Alene High School in their first season of having a swim team. The high school did not financially support the swim team until Bonnie and her high school teammates finished second at State that year and earned the attention and support that the club deserved. Bonnie would go on to be an assistant coach for C.A.S.T until 1997 when she moved to Moses Lake with her husband and first of three children. Two of her three children swim for the Manta Rays and this exposure and involvement led her to once again become a swim coach, joining the MRA staff in 2016. Her favorite stroke is backstroke.
Aleksey Semenko - Silver Coach
Aleksey was born in Russia in 1988 and moved with his family to the USA in 1990. Aleksey swam for MLHS under Tony St. Onge-who he feels motivated him and kept him loving swimming. He met and married his wife Stephanie in 2010. In April of 2013, they welcomed future Manta Ray Swimmer, their son, Matthew. Their daughter, Lizzy was born April of 2015. Aleksey coached for the Manta Rays in 2006 before relocating to Spokane. They returned to Moses Lake in 2013, and the Manta Rays welcomed him as our age group coach in the fall of 2013. Aleksey is great with the age groupers, motivating them to have fun while improving their strokes. His favorite stroke is the butterfly.
Jessica Williams - Discovery & Bronze Coach
Jessica began swimming for the Manta Rays when she was 11. She quickly realized this was the sport for her. Besides making many friends, she had a love for the water. Although her specialty has not always been breaststroke, it has become second nature for her over the past few years. She is now a varsity swimmer for the high school as well as a senior swimmer for the Manta Rays. She has also been employed at the Moses Lake Surf n' Slide Water Park as a lifeguard and swim lesson instructor. This has carried over into her also teaching lessons nightly at the high school. Jessica enjoys teaching kids how to swim, but is also hoping to instill in them a love for the sport as she has.
