Head Head Coach/Swim Team Coordinator
Tony Gallagher has been the Head Coach/Swim Team Coordinator for the Tiger Sharks since 2013, after being the Head Developmental Coach and Head Age Group Coach from 2009-2013. After making stops as an assistant coach at Western Illinois University , The University of Georgia Swim Camps, and in his home town with the Munster Swim Club, Coach Tony has enjoyed being a part of the team's continued growth and success. He possesses an in depth plan in stroke mechanics, seasonal progressions, and dry land training throughout the program's levels. Before PPD, Tony was a national team swimmer at BR Ryall, PPD, and Munster Swim Club. Coach Tony was team captain at WIU during his Junior and Senior seasons as well as the 2010 13-14 Girls Illinois Zones Coach, 2011 11-12 Illinois Zones Coach, and 2012 Head Illinois Zones Coach . Tony has a Bachelors of Science Degree in Kinesiology with a K-12 Teaching Certificate from Western Illinois University. Additionally, Tony has previously served as a member of the Illinois Swimming Age Group Committee from 2010-2017.
Head Age Group Coach
Originally from Munster, Indiana, Head Age Group Coach, Dustin Thompson, began his swimming career at the age of eight with the Munster Swim Club. He has accumulated numerous age group and high school swimming state championships in the freestyle, butterfly, and IM events. After high school, Dustin attended Penn State University, where he earned a Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering. At PSU, he competed in the butterfly and IM events, in addition to being team captain his Senior year and National Qualifier. Thompson was named a Coach for the 2012, 2013, 2014 10 & Under Illinois Zones Team, and 2015 and 2016 Head Coach of Illinois Zones Team. Coach Dustin looks forward to leading PPD's age group program, focusing on stroke technique, swimming smart, and having fun interactions in and out of the pool.
A former Hoffman Hawk, Coach Seth has a
lengthy background swimming in the area at the club and high school
level, as well as at Western Illinois University. As a member of
the PPD coaching staff, Seth has been an important part of the
development of the age group swimmers. Seth has an amazing
support staff with his wife and family allowing him to coach and
work full time as an Enrolled Agent with the accounting & tax
firm BJS & Associates, LTD. He has volunteered for some
time now and is looking to give back to the sport that he
A 2009 graduate of Hope College, Lucas Osterbur joins the PPD Tiger Sharks as a Senior Coach. Coach Lucas comes to Palatine after receiving his Masters Degree from the University of Illinois. While in Champaign, Coach Lucas also coached with the Champaign County YMCA Heat. While with the HEAT, Osterbur worked with a variety of different age groups, as well as some of the fastest swimmers in the state. Coach Lucas is very excited to continue his coaching career with the Tiger Sharks.
Age Group Coach
Coach Adam graduated from Conant High in 2007, where he was part of both swimming and water polo teams. After graduation, he attended Harper College and Northern Illinois University, graduating with a degree in Rehabilitation Services. Coach Adam has been coaching since 2008 with a variety of ages and ability levels. He enjoys working with all swimmers and encourages learning and fun! Longo has been with PPD since 2016 and has been an invaluable piece to the team’s success.
Coach Adam also serves as the assistant Boys’ Water Polo coach for Hoffman Estates High School and Harper College.
Age Group Coach
Branon Renick started coaching in 2011 and came to PPD in 2016. Before PPD, Branon was the Head Age Group Coach of Maverick Aquatics (MVA) in Lafayette, IN. In this role, he guided athletes to state and zone cuts as well as multiple new team records! In addition, he served Catch the Sprit and Age Group Memorial camp staffs. Before MVA, he served two long course seasons as an assistant coach for Sugar Creek Swim Club and spent three summers with the Frankfort Swim Club in a variety of roles including Head Coach. Branon is a recent graduate of Purdue University and currently works at Northrop Grumman Corporation in Rolling Meadows.
started her swimming career with the PPD Tiger Sharks as an age
group swimmer and was a member of the Palatine High School swimming
and water polo teams. Agnes joined the Tiger Sharks coaching staff
in 2012, while finishing up her Bachelor's degree from Carthage
College. While at Carthage, she was a standout water polo player,
and team captain. With such a wide variety of experience in the
water from a leadership and athletic standpoint, Agnes has been an
outstanding addition to PPD's age group program. Coach Agnes has
been able to help foster an environment of learning and fun, while
helping develop PPD's youngest athletes.
Jon Michael Burgess
Burgess joined the Palatine Tiger Sharks in the fall of 2017. JM
arrives to Palatine after four successful years at Michigan State
University. While at MSU, he played water polo for the Spartans and
was a member of the 2014 Big Ten Champions. Coach JM started his
swimming career in high school and has been teaching swim lessons
for the past eight years. The addition of JM’s enthusiasm and
knowledge is a welcomed addition to the Tiger Shark
Coach Beth joined the
Palatine Tiger Sharks in the fall of 2018. She has over 20 years of
experience as a competitive swimmer and several years of experience
as a swim coach and a swim lesson instructor. Coach Beth swam with
her local age group team, Peoria Area Water Wizards (PAWW), for
many years and competed at the national level. She moved to Boca
Raton, Fl her junior year of high school to swim at the prestigious
Mission Bay Aquatic Training Center to train with Olympic coaches
and swimmers in pursuit of qualifying for the Olympic Trials in the
100 fly and 200 IM. There she achieved many personal best times and
helped the Mission Bay Makos win national titles and assisted her
high school team with a state championship. Coach Beth was awarded
a swimming scholarship with the University of Illinois at
Urbana-Champaign where she graduated with a B.S. in Business
Administration. She has two amazing teenage sons and is an
elementary teacher with the Crystal Lake School District where she
has worked for over 14 years. Coach Beth is excited to dive right
in to help the age group swimmers achieve their goals while having
fun during the process.
