Coach Lark has 19 years of competitive swim history as an athlete including State and Championship teams. She has trained under some of the best coaches in swimming including Mark Schubert, Richard Quick, Dave Salo and Jim Steen. Throughout her swim career she focused on swim mechanics and was interested in discovering what makes a good swimmer great. Lark realized she would not be one of the greats in swimming but learned that she loved the sport and enjoyed helping others achieve their full potential. This lead her to team management and coaching. Coach Lark believes that in order for our athletes to reach their full potential, as coaches we must foster growth in all areas of child development including physical, emotional, and social development.
In addition to coaching swimming, she has experience coaching championship athletes in the sport of Canoe & Kayak and was a Junior National Development Team coach at the Olympic Training Center in Lake Placid.

Brian T Englert
Assistant Coach

Coach Brian has 15 years of
competitive swim history. Brian started his swimming career right
here with the St. Charles Swim Team at the age of 7. He knew right
away that this was the sport for him. After swimming all through
grade school, middle school, and high school, Brian took his
swimming career a step further and swam for the NCAA Division 3 at
Carroll University. If you ask him what he primarily swam over a
course of those 4 years, he will probably tell you that he did a
little bit of everything (Primarily focusing on distance his first
2 years and the IM, Breaststroke, and Sprint Freestyle his last 2
years).
Coach Brian joined the
coaching staff beginning of 2018. He is always excited for what
each practice brings and to see our swimmers progress every single
day. He has a driven passion for this sport and truly believes that
having fun, keeping a strong work ethic, and staying positive are
the three key pillars of what makes for a great
swimmer.
If not at the pool
coaching, there’s a pretty good chance he’s on a plane
flying somewhere. Like swimming, he has a strong passion for
traveling out of the country, site seeing, exploring, meeting new
people, and embracing other cultures.

Brian S Mitchell
Assistant Coach
Email
Brian Mitchell joined the St. Charles Swim Team coaching staff in the spring of 2007. He began coaching in 2000 as an unpaid, volunteer coach for Conant High School girls swim team. He spent 3 years at Conant before being offered to coach their cross city rival, Schaumburg High School. Brian took over the boys program in the fall of 2003, when numbers and interest in the program began to dwindle. In his short tenure, he was able to increase participation on the team by 50%. With a growing family in near-by South Elgin, now totaling four children, and seeing his career as a coach beginning to take shape, Brian jumped at the opportunity to coach with program that is rich in tradition and known nationally.
Coach Mitchell has been fortunate to have coached swimmers in our Age Group program who have gone to have success at the Regional, State, High School, Collegiate and Junior National levels. His philosophy, teach children to love the sport, respect the sport and each other. “If you do things right, fast will find you…it may not be today, but it will find you.”
