Seth L Orlove
Coach Seth Orlove has been a part of many
swimming programs in and around the Skokie community for over 20
years. He has taken great pride in being an important part of the
growth, development, and raising the level of competiveness in the
area. He has had the opportunity to work with many great athletes -
YMCA District & State Champions, YMCA National Qualifiers and
Runner-ups, USA/IL Swimming State Qualifiers, State Champions, and
Junior National Qualifiers.
He has been a part of the Niles North High School Viking Swimming
and Diving Programs for the past 20 years; and, is currently the
Head Coach of the Boys Team and Assistant Coach of the Girls Team.
As Head Coach of the Boy’s Team over the past 15+
years, he has had over 80 CSL All Conference Athletes, numerous
IHSA State Qualifiers, All State Athletes, and has led the team to
setting over 35 new school records and winning 5 CSL North
Being involved in the athletic arena throughout his entire life,
both as a competitor and as an avid observer, he has a true
appreciation of the intrinsic values that sport (especially
swimming) can have on an individual. A sense of belonging;
motivation, determination, and self- esteem; hard work, commitment,
dedication, and perseverance - these serve as both building blocks
and cornerstones for successful athletes and successful people.
Teaching these values to future generations of athletes will
provide them with the necessary skills to lead fulfilling swimming
careers and lives.
Head Age Group Coach
Bio’s are funny, they are supposed to be written
in the third person but you know it’s just the person talking
about themselves. It’s more of an autobiography, and those
can be written in the third person. Here mine goes!
My name is Tj Moran, yes TJ is short for something.
No, I am not going to tell you what (...you have to guess). I have
been coaching for almost 20 years. If there is one thing I can tell
you it’s I truly LOVE my job. My goals for coaching are
simple. Have Fun. Swimming fast is fun! Doing things you once
thought were impossible is fun! Becoming better is fun!
I have coached all levels and all ages. From athletes who
didn’t know how to swim to state champions. I have been the
Head Age Group Coach here at Swift since the beginning and I am the
Head Girls and Assistant Boys Coach at Niles North. During the day
I also coach at Crossfit Illumine in Niles. I guess you can say I
like to coach.
The best part of being a coach is watching young swimmers
develop and grow up. I have had the privilege to coach some really
great athletes that have gone on to become really great adults.
There is no job on earth that can be this rewarding. Some of them
have been fast swimmers. All of them have been a pleasure to coach.
I have 2 major beliefs for my coaching, we can call them
#1 is, more is not better, better is better. We will
become better by doing the small things better. Quality >
#2 KISS Keep It Super Simple .
There is no reason to over complicate things. Keep it simple makes
for a much easier conversations.
That’s it. That’s me in a nutshell. Feel free to
reach out and ask any questions. See you on the pool deck!
