Tyler Long is excited to join Howard County Aquatics
primarily at the Lewis Cass practice site. Tyler’s swimming
career began on a YMCA team in Hilliard, Ohio, where he fell in
love with the sport and immediately began competing year round. By
his third year of competition, Tyler was setting several team,
state, and zone records in the 50, 100, and 200 butterfly. He then
went on to swim for the Ohio State Swim Club, setting more team
records and eventually leading age group and relay state
championship efforts as well.
After high school, Tyler decided to pursue a career in music
education and sadly was not able to compete any longer. He
graduated with degrees in music education and church music from
Indiana Wesleyan University in Marion in 2018, and is now is a
graduate student in music education and conducting at Butler
University. After finishing at IWU, Tyler began coaching for
Fishers Area Swimming Tigers (FAST), where he led the adult Masters
and 10 and under Developmental programs that housed over 40
swimmers. He now is one of the band directors at Lewis Cass High
School, and has enjoyed contributing to the development of both
musicians and swimmers in the area immensely. Tyler loves being on
the pool deck as much as possible, to give back to current athletes
as much as he received as a swimmer! Go Hurricanes!
