Daniel James Hartman

Lead Red Group Coach

I started swimming when I was 7 years old for Park Forest Swim & Dive Club. After finding some early success I decided to turn swimming into a year-round event starting at Southeast Family YMCA and  eventually switching to Fort Wayne Central YMCA at the age of 8. I continued my swimming career at Concordia Lutheran High School where I was first introduced to Coach John Gibson. With his help I was able to qualify for the IHSAA State Championship meet in 2004 (placing 4th in the medley relay) and 2005 (placing 3rd in the medley relay, state champion in the 200 free relay, and consolation champion in the 100 backstroke). After a year of playing basketball for the Cadets I returned to the pool in 2007 and placed 7th in the 50 freestyle at state. After high school I spent my freshman year in college at Long Beach State university as a member of the men's water polo team. I returned home in 2008 and spent my sophomore year in college as an assistant coach for the Homestead High School swim team. I transferred to Indiana University in 2009 and graduated in 2012 with a bachelors in Journalism. I returned to Fort Wayne after graduation and coached with FORT (at the time known as NACS) in 2012 and 2013. I primary worked with the middle school age group during my first tenure as a coach with NACS. After a brief hiatus I am now making my return to coaching and am very excited about the opportunity to get back on deck! I have always had a passion for coaching and look forward to getting to work and helping everyone achieve their personal goals.
