Coaching Staff

Joe Hroma

Head Coach- Platinum Elite/ Elite


Coach Joe is beginning his first year as the Head Coach of the Piranhas, and joins the staff from Chicago, IL.
As a high school swimmer at Chesterton High School in Indiana, Joe was an All American who went on to swim at Vincennes University where he finished as a 13 time JUCO All American. After college he realized his passion for the sport would never go away, and immediately began his tenure as a coach. Coach Joe has worked with teams in Indianapolis, Atlanta, and Chicago, coaching numerous state champions. Over the past ten years as a coach, he has seen his swimmers go on to represent division 1 powerhouse teams such as: Arizona, Arizona State, Indiana, Kentucky, and Purdue.

Emma Regnier

Platinum Coach


Coach Emma is currently working primarily with Silver 2 group and Bronze group, though assists with many of the other groups as well. She comes to us from just across the river at Augustana College! She was a 2 time captain and focused on butterfly and breaststroke while swimming at Augie. Originally from Grayslake, IL, She swam high school for GLNHS.

Emma has been coaching with the Piranhas since 2012. When she began, she assisted with the stroke development groups while studying at college. She graduated from Augie with a degree in Biology/Secondary Education, and has continued to help develop our swimmers, working with numerous groups throughout the years.

Emma likes to do yoga in her spare time!

Wyatt C Serna

Bronze/ Senior


Coach Wyatt comes from a history of great success working with kids. His enthusiasm and energy are apparent on pool deck. Wyatt hails from Oswego, IL where he worked as the Bronze coach for the past two years. Kids and Parents alike love his hands on approach. He excels in demonstrating, and teaching our younger swimmers great technique.

Frank DeMaria

Gold Coach


Coach DeMaria joins the Piranhas with a wealth of knowledge and coaching experience.  He has spent the last 6 years in Ann Arbor Michigan coaching with the national group at Club Wolverine, Pioneer High school and head High school coach of Greenhills/Father Gabriel Richard.  Originally from Niskayuna, NY where he swam for the Albany Starfish Swim Club and still is a multiple club record holder.  He was a distance swimmer for Eastern Michigan University where he competed and helped secure EMU's 30th and 31st MAC Conference titles.  

During college coach DeMaria started to realize his passion for coaching after starting at the University of Michigan Swim camps in 2012.  Coach DeMaria also spent from 2013-2015 with the nationally known swim club, Club Wolverine.  He worked with the the national group that produced multiple NCSA, Summer Junior and Olympic Trial Qualifiers.  During his time at Club Wolverine he started coaching for Ann Arbor Pioneer High school which produced multiple state champions school record holders and D1, D2 and D3 swimmers.  

Coach DeMaria finished his time in Ann Arbor as a Head high school coach for the Greenhills/Father Gabriel Richard swim program where multiple school records were shattered in 2017.  He has also coached for Wolverine Swim Clinics and the All American Swim Camps as well.
