 Andy Pedersen (

Andy Pedersen has been the Head Coach for Southeastern Swim Club since 1994. During his tenure, SSC has grown from a local team to a regional powerhouse. Coach Pedersen also serves as the Head Coach of the Hamilton Southeastern High School Boys and Girls Teams.

While at HSE and SSC, Coach Pedersen has been recognized as the National Coach of the Year once, State Coach of the Year several times, and also is a recipient of the Jim Clark Award, given by Indiana Swimming to its top coach.

Coach Pedersen has many accomplishments that he is proud of, but one highlight that stands out above many others is the program’s track record with regard to sending athletes on to the collegiate ranks. Since 1995, over 50 HSE/SSC graduates have been elected college team captains. Coach Pedersen is extremely proud of his privilege to lead an HSE/SSC Staff with over 200 years of combined coaching experience. There are great things going on here at Southeastern, and it is going to keep moving in that direction for a long time!


Matt Papachronis (

Matt is thrilled to return to Southeastern Swim Club for 2018, having previously served a decade long run with the team starting in 2001. Matt comes to SSC this time around after 8 years as the Head Coach of Washington Township Swim Club and North Central Swimming & Diving. During that time, he doubled the size of the team, moved their state power point ranking from 30th to 10th, led the NC Boys to an IHSAA runner-up finish in 2013, and fielded a set of National Record breaking relays. He started his coaching career at Valparaiso Swim Club in 1998.
     At Wabash College, Matt earned his degree in History (minor Biology), and swam all four years. Matt’s highlights at Wabash include captain (1998), school, pool, and conference record holder, National Time Qualifier, and he graduated in 1998 having been the 4th highest in career point total for the school.  Before Wabash, Matt attended Valparaiso High School where he earned All-American Status from his sophomore to senior year and achieved several State Finalists finishes. As a member of Valparaiso Swim Club, Matt was a 10-time state champion in the butterfly & free events, Zone Champion, and Junior National Finalist. 
    From 2001 to 2010 with SSC, Matt produced Indiana State Champions & Record Holders, Mid-States Quad Champions, Zone Champions, and dozens of Top 10 National swimmers and relays. In 2010, he was voted Indiana Swimming's Age Group Coach of the Year.  In 2006 he was elected to serve as Indiana Swimming’s Age Group Swimming Chairman for a 6 year term and has served as Indiana’s Quad Team Coach, Head Coach of the Age Group Elite Camp, & Open Water Coach. More recently, he was awarded Indiana Swimming's Conoco Philips Coach of the Year. In 2016, he was chosen to serve on USA Swimming's Central Zone Board of Review.  Matt lives in Indianapolis with his wife Ann & three children, and when he’s not coaching he enjoys traveling, watching other sports, and supporting the local Fishers community.

Heather Streett (

 Heather has been with SSC since 1994 and has been coaching since 1991. Heather is ASCA Level 3 certified and is the head coach for the Flying Fish and Stingrays.  In addition to coaching, she is the Director of Recruitment for Southeastern Swim Club, the Assistant Director of the Southeastern Swim School, and daytime instructor for the Southeastern Swim School. Over the course of her coaching career with Southeastern Swim Club, she has worked with many athletes who have gone on to have great success on the USA Swimming National and Collegiate level.

During the summer months, she is also the Head Swim Coach for the Windermere Dolphins located in Fishers, Indiana. Heather and her husband, Kenny, live in Fishers with their son, Keegan and daughter, Harper. Keegan is also a member of the Southeastern Swim Club, where he participates in the Barracudas group.  In her spare time, Heather enjoys spending time with family and friends, photography, scrapbooking, and traveling.

Ben Wachtel began coaching with SSC in 2014. He was an All-American and Olympic Trials qualifier at Purdue University, where he swam four years and was a team captain for two.

He went to high school at Westfield, where he was a seven-time All American and a four-time IHSAA state champion. He is a member of the Indiana High School Swimming and Diving Hall of Fame and was the school's first individual state champion in any sport.

He also competed for Southeastern Swim Club, where he represented the team at numerous national-level meets and scored multiple times both individually and as a part of relay teams. Additionally, he was part of the SSC team that won the Senior State Championship meet during the summer of 2009.

 Jeanne Tracy (

Jeanne started age group swimming as an eight year old in New Jersey/Philadelphia area and developed a passion for swimming. She later swam for the Vesper Swim Club in Philadelphia and achieved her personal goal of qualifying and swimming at Senior Nationals at age 18. Jeanne came to Indiana to attend Anderson University and started coaching swimming in Anderson, where she enjoyed coaching and swimming with the age group program. Through the years she has been a head coach for age group, summer clubs, middle school, and high schools. She has been a part of coaching many age group and high school swimmers to individual, relay, and high school championships. Jeanne has worked with all ages and abilities and has a goal to bring out the best in each swimmer, and instill a passion for swimming. Jeanne began coaching at Southeastern Swim Club in 2007 and is a middle school physical education teacher at Highland Junior High School in Anderson.

 Alex "Cubby" Emerson (

Coach Alex, also known as Cubby, began coaching for SSC in 2011. Alex graduated from Hamilton Southeastern High School in 2003, where he swam for HSE and Southeastern Swim Club. He continued his swimming career at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia, graduating in 2007 with a degree in English. He remained in Atlanta until 2011, when he moved back to Indiana and began coaching with Southeastern. He is very excited to be back with his home club and carrying on the Southeastern tradition with the Senior training group.

Out of the pool, Alex is pursuing his law degree at Indiana University’s McKinney School of Law in Indianapolis.

 Crystal Schmollinger (

Crystal began her swimming career at the age of six with the Indy Dolphins and swam for Brownsburg High School. She then went on to swim for IU Swim Club and IUPUI Swimming and Diving.

Crystal started coaching to give back to the sport that gave so much to her.  She started with Southeastern Swim Club in 2014 after spending the winter season as a volunteer coach with the high school team.

Crystal is a 2010 graduate of Indiana University with a degree in elementary education. She currently works as a financial professional at Prudential. Outside of work and swimming she enjoys spending time with her husband, Reed (2005 graduate of HSE), family and friends, and watching sports.

Kristen Kohl started her swimming career as a Flying Fish for SSC at the age of 8 and swam until she graduated from Hamilton Southeastern High School. She was part of SSC as well as the HSE high school team. 

Swimming was such a huge part of her youth and once the opportunity to be back in the pool was there, she knew that she could not pass it up. Swimming made such a big difference in her life, and she is glad that she can do the same for Southeastern Swim Club now.

She graduated from the Kelley School of Business at IU in Bloomington. Kristen worked as a Manager for Dick's Sporting Goods for a little over a year and now works as a Project Manager for Sign Craft Industries.

During Kristen's free time, she loves to spend time with her family and friends as well as working out, shopping, and relaxing. 

 Kylene Toney (

Kylene began swimming at the age of 9 for Pendleton Swim Club, then began swimming for Southeastern Swim Club at age 11. While swimming for Pendleton Swim Club at age 9, Kylene received the most valuable swimmer award.  While swimming for SSC, she was on the first place medley relay team and received 4th and 7th place personal medals at state in breaststroke. HSE has allowed Kylene to be a part of three state-runner-up teams and a recipient of the Mental Attitude Award, accompanied by a four-year varsity letter.    

Kylene came to coach at SSC because she wanted to be a part of helping younger kids become better swimmers and encourage stronger character. Kylene felt very at home while swimming for SSC and is especially excited to pass down what she has learned by coaching.

Kylene is a graduate of Anderson University Social Work program, received her MBA through Liberty University, and is pursuing her Masters in Social Work through IUPUI. Kylene works as a Juvenile Probation Officer for Hamilton County. In her free time, Kylene can be found studying, working out or training for Spartan Races. She enjoys getting to know others and spending time with her friends and family.

 Sara Cline (

Sara started swimming with a summer league in Houston, Texas when she was 9 years old. In 2001 her family moved to Fishers, and she began her journey with Southeastern Swim Club. She continued to swim with SSC until she graduated from Hamilton Southeastern High School in 2007. While at HSE, she was a four-year member of the Girls’ Swim Team, earning three varsity letters. As a member of the swim teams, she learned the importance of time management, goal setting, hard work, and team work. Being a part of the SSC and HSE teams provided Sara with valuable experiences, lifelong friendships, and wonderful memories.

Sara attended Purdue University and graduated in 2011 with a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education. She has worked at Prairie Trace Elementary in the Carmel Clay School District and at North Elementary in the Noblesville School District. This fall, she will begin teaching 3rd grade at Thorpe Creek Elementary.

After graduating from Purdue, Sara moved back to Fishers and was thrilled to have the opportunity to return to SSC as a coach. In 2011, she began as an assistant coach working with the Stingrays and Flying Fish. For Sara, seeing children and young athletes grow, learn, and develop is exciting and rewarding.

In her free time, Sara enjoys reading, spending time with family and friends, and cheering for the Boilermakers, Colts and Pacers.
