Kevin grew up in the sport of swimming. He swam with the Elizabethtown Dolphins from the early 80’s through the mid 90’s. During that time as an age group swimmer, Kevin competed at all levels. He also had two excellent technical coaches during his days as a dolphin that coached swimmers to the highest levels of the sport. Both of these coaches, Coach Cy and Coach Paul, both shared their passion for stroke technique that really hit home with Kevin, as he still studies, analyzes and breaks down stroke technique looking for ways to grow his swimmers.
Even with several scholarship offers to swim at the collegiate level, Kevin chose to focus his efforts on pursuing a career in Education focusing on teaching students with disabilities. He graduated from the University of Kentucky in 2000, with a bachelors in Special Education. During his time there, he continued to provide stroke instruction, private lessons and help coordinate and instruct swim america programs. Kevin went on to earn a Masters in Educational Leadership at Eastern Ky University, and Special Education Director Endorsement from Murray State University, as well as earning his National Board Teaching Certification.
Kevin’s two passions in life are teaching and swimming, which is a perfect combination to instruct swimmers at all developmental levels up to the elite levels. Kevin has Previously been the Head Coach for Marshall County High School swim team from 2009-2014, Head Coach of Calvert City Orange waves from 2010-2012, and interim Coach for the Paducah Swim Team in 2015. He looks forward to adding to the success of Paducah Swim Team. He wants to help the more experienced swimmers continue to refine abilities and achieve goals, as well as to establish a growth plan for the team to continue to gain membership so that more children of Paducah experience all this wonderful sport has to offer. Kevin is also a certified USA official, certified USA Coach, and ASCA member in good standing.
