William R Stacy
Head Age Group Coach
A native of Indiana, Rick received his higher education at Ball State University, Indiana University and the University of Wisconsin-Madison, obtaining his Ph.D. in Tudor-Stuart English history from the latter. During this period, Rick served as an assistant and head coach for a number of swim teams in Indiana and Wisconsin before arriving as a coach for Hawken and LESD in 1987. As an age group coach Rick strongly emphasizes proper stroke technique within a framework of individual medley and endurance-based training. Rick’s swimmers have gone on to enjoy great success. Over one hundred of his swimmers have been high school State champions, Junior and Senior National qualifiers, and Olympic Trials qualifiers. Three of his swimmers have become national champions and two—Camille Wright and Diana Munz—represented the United States in the Olympics.
Rick’s success has been recognized in various ways. He has been selected multiple times as the Lake Erie Age Group Coach of the Year. He was a featured speaker at the Olympic Training center for USA Swimming at four age group forums, two sports science forums and one coaches’ college. Rick has spoken twice for the American Swim Coaches Association on age group training and stroke technique, first at the Atlanta World Clinic and subsequently at their inaugural Age Group Clinic in Los Angeles. Similarly, he has spoken twice to Allegheny Mountain coaches, most recently in the fall of 2015. Several of his articles on age group swimming have been published in the ASCA Journal, USA Swimming published a year of his age group workouts on their web site and he was selected as the Head Coach for the Southern Distance Camp at Pensacola.
Rick also has been active on a wider scale in the local swimming community. He has been a Quad coach and Zone coach on multiple occasions, he has served on the Lake Erie Board as Coaches’ Representative, Age Group Chair, Technical Planning Chair and Scheduling Chair, and he served as coach for the Cleveland entry in the International Children’s Games held in Poland, Greece, Cleveland, Thailand and Iceland.

This will be Tina’s second year with LESD. This season she coaches Bronze at the Hawken Lower School. Most recently, Tina was the co-head coach of B3 Aquatics. Previously, Tina was the head coach at the Louisville YMCA for six years. She also coached Solon Stars and Shaker Sharks. Tina has coached 14 YMCA National Qualifiers, 42 YMCA Zone Qualifiers, 5 USA Swimming Zone Qualifiers, the 1997 YMCA National Swimmer of the year, and the 1997 & 2002 Great Lakes YMCA Swimmer of the Year. In 2005 and 2006 Tina was a Lake Erie Central Zone Coach. In 2007, she was the Central Zone Meet Director. In 2011, she was the meet director for the Speedo Championship Series Section 3 meet. She served as General Chair of Lake Erie Swimming for the past 3 years and the 7 years as the Director of Championship Meets for the Central Zone. Tina is currently on USA Swimming’s National Age Group Development Committee.
Tina is a graduate from Kent State University and John Carroll University. She has bachelor’s degrees in Physical Education and Leisure Service Management, and a master’s degree in Educational Administration with a reading endorsement. In addition to coaching, Tina is the Staff Assistant at Lomond Elementary in the Shaker Heights.
