Head Coach & CEO
Coach Kirtis co-founded the Twinsburg Competitive Aquatics
team in the Sping of 2015. TCAT has moved from a team with
50-60 swimmers to that of over 100 swimmers in the two years
directing the program. TCAT has produced swimmers who have
earned Lake Erie's Top 10 times for 2016 & 2017 seasons and
2017 USA Swimming Sectional Qualifiers.
Coach Kirtis has been head coach of the Twinsburg High School
swim team since 2013. As head coach for Twinsburg High School
he has produced an OHSAA State Qualifier, many OHSAA Northeast
District Qualifiers and has broken over a dozen school records.
Under Coach Kirtis’ direction the team has earned its
first ever Conference Championship title in 2014 for both girls and
boys. The girls were also Conference Champions in 2015.
In 2015 he was named NOC Coach of the Year for the girls team
and in 2014 received that honor for both girls and boys.
Coach Kirtis had several years of USA Swimming
club and high school coaching experience before joining
TCAT. While coaching at the club level he had swimmers
qualify to the 2014 Central Zone meet and 2013 International
Children’s games. Several of his swimmers were able to
achieve age group AA and AAA time standards through USA
Swimming. He also produced several Central District
qualifiers in the years coaching Athens High School.
Coach Kirtis graduated in 2012 with his Master’s degree in
Sports Sciences with an emphasis on Coaching Education. In
2011 he earned his Bachelor's degree in Physical Education.
As a swimmer, Coach Kirtis was a member of the Ohio University
Men's Swimming and Diving program in 2006-2007 season when the
program was discontinued. While at Ohio University he earned
the Tad Potter Memorial Award for Teamwork, Leadership,
Courage and Dedication. In high school Coach Kirtis was
a four time OHSAA State Championship qualifier. He earned the
All American honor for swimming in 2006.
Head Age Group Coach
Coach Bryan has been coaching for the past seven years.
Byran spent two years as an age group coach with the Hudson
Explorers Aquatic Team. He also worked with the Eaton Eels,
Berea Titansharks. Coach Bryan's focus has been with swimmers
of all ages and ability levels. Bryan has coached many Lake
Erie Championship qualifiers over the years.
Coach Bryan was a 4 year letterwinner with Baldwin Wallace
University 2011-2015. His specialty was in middle distance
freestyle, breaststroke, and Individual Medley. Coach Bryan
graduated with a Bachelor's in Special Education in 2015.
Coach Matt has been coaching for several years at the age group
and high school levels. Coach Matt started his coaching
career as an age group coach with the Solon Stars. At the
Stars he was responsible for implementing drill progressions for
novice swimmers. At that time he also coached Kenston High
School. At Kenston, Matt produced several Northeast District
Qualifiers. As a swimmer Coach Matt swam in Solon and went on
to compete for the College of Wooster. Matt was a 4 year
letterwinner at Wooster and competed in the 200 Fly, 200 Back,
and 400 IM.
Head SRT Coach & Assistant USA
Nate is a current student at CSU studying Political Science. Nate started coaching with the Tigersharks in the summer of 2015. As a 4 year letterwinner at Twinsburg High School, Nate was a backstroke specialist. Nates favorite part about coaching is the team aspect of the sport. He believes everyone can contribute to the team in a way and is happy to help the swimmers find their spot within the team. While Nate is around primarily in the Summer, he also helps with the USA programs during
Coach Gary came to TCAT in the Summer of 2017. Coach
Gary has over 5 years of coaching experience at all levels.
Gary started his coaching career with University Swim Club.
With USC Gary was in charge of the age group development of
the program. He helped organize team group progression
standards for the team. Gary also founded the Lawrence School
swim team 3 years ago. Coach Gary built the program from a
group of 5 to a team of over 20 swimmers. Coach Gary began
his swimming career in Pennsylvania and became a 4 year
letterwinner at Hiram College. Gary was a team captain and
competed in distance freestyle, 400 IM and 200 Breaststroke.
Coach Jacob began coaching in the Spring of 2015. Jacob is
currently the team's dryland coach for all groups. Coach Jacob has
a specialty with plyometrics and calisthenics training. He
was team's dryland coach in 2016 and looks forward to helping
prevent injuries while building a solid foundation of core strength
for the swimmers of TCAT.
