Charlie started as Head Coach at Friends Select Swimming in
August 2017. He began coaching 8&Unders in summer league, and
after several years of that became a senior coach at Fanwood
Scotch-Plains YMCA team in New Jersey. While there his 13-14 boys
800Fr Relay broke a 20 year-old state record by 19 seconds. Next,
he went to SwimMAC in North Carolina. During his time there the
team ranked #1 in the country, and in addition to coaching senior
athletes he had the opportunity to work with professional swimmers
including 2012 Olympic Silver Medalist Nic Thoman. Next, he came
back to New Jersey to take the job of Head Age Group coach at the
Peddie school. When he began there only 20% of the swimmers in his
groups were at the BB level or higher. After four years, 89% were
at BB or higher, and 61% at A or higher. Swimmers he coached set 29
individual team records, 27 relay records, and 2 swimmers made
National Top 10 rankings. And most recently he comes from a
little over a year as a volunteer assistant coach for the Rutgers
University women’s team.
