Coach Ray has been a continuous part of NRG Swimming since 1991, taking over as NRG’s head coach in 2009, he began coaching for NRG in 2002, learning under Elite Coaches and NRG Founders Bill and Kathy Trabosh and has, in his tenure, coached all levels and age groups, from the 8 and under Minis to the Senior Elite.  Coach Ray has also spent time mentoring under other successful coaches around the country as well.

Coach Ray’s deep personal commitment to NRG Swimming has him focused and researching new techniques and ideas to keep NRG fresh, current, and constantly improving. His other credentials include ASCA and USA swimming coaching memberships, as well as continuing to maintain the lead Red Cross swim instructor position for Neshaminy Aquatics and working as a independant advisor for several aquatics programs.

Coach Ray swam for NRG prior to becoming a member of the coaching staff, and was a part of the team that won the Franklin and Marshall Holiday Classic. Coach Ray was also recently inducted into the Neshaminy Sports Hall of Fame in 2009, for his accomplishments as a member of the Neshaminy High School swim team.

Coach Ray has a deep personal commitment to NRG Swimming. Swimming has been an integral part of his life for many years and he integrates the personal lessons of focus, commitment, success, and team spirit into the NRG program. In his role as head coach he will be involved in all aspects of the team including giving personal attention to all swimmers, with a strong focus>

As a coach, he has successfully guided athletes of all ages to success in and out of the pool.  Many have gone>

  • qualifying for the Olympic Trials 
  • recieving scholarships to Division 1 Universities
  • qualifying for NSCA, Junior Nationals, Nationals, & the US Open
  • qualifying for the Eastern Zone Select Camps
  • attaining Academic All-American status 
  • qualifying for MA Zones teams
  • have been ranked>

Coach Ray continues to stress that the real success comes years after that have left the pool, using the values & work ethic taught through his training process.  He continues his education in developing the best possible program for all athletes under his care, as well as educate others to help serve the community.

Ed Cox

Ed Cox has been coaching for Our Lady of Calvary Swim Team for the past 15 years.  He has been the Head Coach for the past 10 years and has led OLC to be one of the perennial top CYSL teams.  His experience has a teacher for the School District of Philadelphia for the past 26 years has helped developed his talent for working with children.  Ed's specialty is teaching and connecting with his students and swimmers to improve their skills and prepare them for the future.  Many of his swimmers have gone on to excel, not only in the CYSL, but in high school and college swimming as well.

            Ed's background includes swimming for the Philadelphia Department of Rec (PDR), Torresdale Swim Team, St. Bernard's Swim Team, and Father Judge.  He has been the Coach and Director of Torresdale Swim Team, where he has won awards for his hard work and dedication.

            Ed looks forward to working with the swimmers at NRG and pushing them to achieve their goals.
