Coach Camilla Cleghorn

Head Center Coach - Dancel

Email

Coach Camilla has been a coach for five years, she previously coached at West High School in Knoxville, TN.  To Coach Camilla Swimming is an opportunity to "drown out" the daily noise and stressors of life. She appreciates the way the world seems to mute when you are underwater and she can focus on just on swimming.  She enjoys witnessing her swimmers recognize personal growth through hard work. She is driven by the results that come slower - character development and goal accomplishment. The excitement and sense of wonder through accomplishment a swimmer feels when they accomplish a set goal, be it complete their first race, win their heat, or make finals in an event, is contagious.  Her favorite stroke is butterfly as it's often considered the hardest stroke which contributes to the sense of accomplishment and confidence swimmers reach when they complete the stroke correctly.  Outside of swimming Coach Camilla enjoys spending time with her family, she loves to hike, kayak, cycle and kickbox.

Before she was a swimmer Coach Colley was a figure skater, now swimming is her happy place! It is her escape to the best days of her childhood through college. Her lifelong friends have been made through swimming. She has had lots of swimming accomplishments and records, but none are as important as the friends she has made or the smiling faces of the kids she has coached whether you drop 10 seconds or .1 seconds. To Coach Colley swimming is a fabulous sport, it teaches you so many life lessons. The community of families is like no other sport. There is a true sense of comradery and life-long friends are made through multiple generations. Her favorite stroke to teach is butterfly, she always tells her beginning butterfly story to "late-bloomer." I was literally the worst swimmer in my age-group for a year, but through hard work, determination and perseverance, I achieved state records and many other accomplishments throughout my swimming career. Swimming is awesome and it is a life-long sport!  As a child Coach Colley looked up to Mark Spitz.  Her swim coaches were amazing and they would have special "film days," where we would watch swimmers. She was so inspired by the excitement of my coach showing us film and stopping the films over and over to show us his technique. He was also a great role model for young swimmers.
