Patti Drew

Assistant Coach

At the age of 10 Patti (Seiders) Drew started her swimming career off with the Boothbay YMCA Dolphins. In her junior year of high school at Lincoln Academy she was the Maine State High School 100 Butterfly Champion! She went on to swim for 4 years at the University of Maine in Orono. The following year she was an assistant coach for the women’s team at the University of Maine at Orono.

The next year Patti started her successful age group coaching career as an assistant for Seacoast Swim Club in Cumberland. She was an assistant there for 8 years. At this point she took a position working for Fluid Mechanics Inc. for a year and a half in New Jersey.

At this point the Head Coach position at Seacoast was open which she applied for and was offered the position. She remained the head coach there for 11 years, until her son Spencer was born. During her 11 years at Seacoast the team placed in the top 6 out of 20 teams at the Maine Swimming Winter Championships 7 times. In one of those years the boys team placed in the top 3. The team also won the 8 and under championships 2 years and placed second in another. About 30 swimmers went on to represent Maine Swimming at the Eastern Zone Championship Meet and had 3 sectional qualifiers. In 2005 Patti was named the Maine Swimming Coach of the Year!

Patti had known the Head Coach at the Casco Bay YMCA, Dan St.Pierre, for many years. When Spencer was old enough to get into the pool Patti and Spencer joined he Casco Bay YMCA as members. Seeing the value of the knowledge that Patti possessed Head Coach Dan St.Pierre offered Patti an opportunity to still coach while focusing on starting her family. Starting in the fall of 2010 Patti became an assistant coach for the Casco Bay YMCA Swim Team primarily working with the swimmers 11 and older. Patti’s second child Chelsea was born in the fall of 2011. We are looking forward to having her around for many years to come!
