COACHING VISION/APPROACH

The Smoky Hill Sharks are a team that values the opportunity to be a part of something bigger than ourselves. We want to build an environment that helps athletes learn about who they are and how to grow into the person and swimmer they want to be. We are dedicated to having fun over the summer, while still challenging ourselves to grow. Our time together is brief, so we spend most of our time focusing on the technical side of the swimming. We aim to build confident, well-rounded swimmers with strong technique in each of the 4 strokes. We focus on the little things we can control to build efficiency in the water, instead of pushing “garbage yards”, which create cardiovascular fitness at the expense of technique and a higher risk for injuries. The small changes can make a big difference. Our team is made up of parents, the board, and the coaches, who each will play a part in making a positive and meaningful experience for our swimmers. Our time may be short, but it will be impactful.
